“Being a Toronto sports fan comes with its fair share of heartbreaks, no one larger than losing in extra innings of game 7 in the World Series this year. Heartbreaks make the wins feel so much larger however, and being in Jurassic Park in the streets of Toronto when they became NBA Champions is still my greatest sports viewing memory.”

Q&A with Jake Brannen

Here are some personal questions about the sports betting world answered by Jake Brannen.

My passion for baseball and fantasy sports is what drove me towards choosing sports writing as a career. I always wanted to work in the sports industry in some fashion, at first as a physiotherapist, but I developed a stronger passion for writing and content creation while getting my degree.

I grew up playing Hockey and Baseball since the age of four, but started to solely focus on Baseball once high school began. I stopped playing baseball after University to take over coaching duties for our local senior team. Everything about the game fascinates me, starting with its vast history as America’s pastime. The game has developed into a mathematician's dream, with numerous advanced statistics driving in game decisions, and sports scientists optimizing the way pitchers throw and batters swing.

The most memorable sports game I have attended was the only Toronto Blue Jays playoff game I have been to, to this date. The Jays were on the break of elimination in their first playoff run of my lifetime. My friends decided to buy tickets the day of, while talking in our first period of high school. We printed the tickets in the library, and drove to Toronto to watch Marco Estrada take a one- hitter into the 8th inning to save the Blue Jays season and force a game 6.

When I’m not writing about sports I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and skiing, or playing video games in my spare time.

Sidney Crosby is the athlete I admire the most. He is one of the greatest hockey players of all time, and one of the most beloved Canadians of all time, captaining nine different Canadian Hockey teams. All of his accolades aside, his reputation throughout the league as one of the most down to earth players is what stands out the most.

To stay up to date with sports news and trends, I check box scores everyday, regularly analyze current rosters and team statistics, and have a ridiculous amount of sports app and twitter notifications on my phone.
