Canada's iGaming landscape is getting bigger, more competitive and increasingly international. The Ontario sports betting and casino markets remain the country's most established regulated commercial sectors, with nearly 50 operators and more than 80 betting sites listed by iGaming Ontario as of July 28. But the biggest recent development came outside the province: Alberta officially launched its competitive regulated iGaming market on July 13, creating Canada's second open provincial market and giving private operators a new battleground.

That expansion has changed the conversation around legal betting in Canada. Ontario is no longer the country's only major competitive market, while suppliers and operators are looking beyond provincial borders for their next growth opportunities.

Against that backdrop, Toronto-based B2B game studio EdgeLabs has announced a partnership that takes its ambitions in the opposite direction: outward, toward international markets. EdgeLabs has entered into a content partnership with global iGaming technology provider SOFTSWISS, bringing its complete portfolio of more than 50 titles to operators through the SOFTSWISS Game Aggregator. The move gives a growing Canadian studio a much wider distribution network at a moment when the industry's competitive map is rapidly expanding.

Highlights

  • EdgeLabs has partnered with SOFTSWISS to distribute its complete portfolio of more than 50 titles through the SOFTSWISS Game Aggregator.
  • The deal expands the Toronto-based studio's reach across Europe, Latin America and CIS markets, featuring games such as Pirate's Rising, Jewels of Cleopatra and Flaming Skulls.
  • The partnership highlights the growing importance of game aggregation as Canadian iGaming suppliers look to scale internationally and compete for operators in regulated markets worldwide.

EdgeLabs takes its games global

EdgeLabs is a Toronto-based B2B game developer focused on premium slots, fish-shooting games and instant-win titles. Its portfolio includes more than 50 games, with Pirate's Rising, Jewels of Cleopatra and recently launched Flaming Skulls among the titles highlighted in the new integration.

The studio also offers branded and exclusive content, promotional tools and custom development capabilities. Its games are built around familiar mechanics while adding different themes and mathematical models designed to appeal to players across multiple markets.

The SOFTSWISS agreement is therefore a distribution play as much as a content deal. EdgeLabs' games will be available to operators using the SOFTSWISS Game Aggregator, expanding the studio's potential reach across Europe, Latin America and CIS markets.

For EdgeLabs CEO Marina Rodov, that broader access is central to the company's international growth strategy. She described SOFTSWISS as having one of the industry's most respected and technically reliable aggregation platforms, arguing that the partnership will allow more operators to access EdgeLabs' content while giving the studio a foundation for continued expansion.

In practical terms, aggregation solves one of the biggest challenges facing smaller game studios: distribution. Developing a game is one thing. Getting it in front of enough operators and players is another. By connecting its portfolio to an established aggregation platform, EdgeLabs can potentially reach a much larger operator base without having to build every commercial relationship from scratch.

Why SOFTSWISS matters

SOFTSWISS is a global iGaming technology company that provides infrastructure and services to operators running online casino and sportsbook businesses in regulated markets. Founded in 2009, the company has built an ecosystem spanning technology, compliance and strategic support.
Its Game Aggregator is particularly important in this deal. Rather than requiring operators to integrate separately with every individual game studio, an aggregator acts as a central gateway to content from multiple providers.

That makes the addition of EdgeLabs' 50-plus titles potentially valuable on both sides. EdgeLabs gets distribution, while SOFTSWISS can add another collection of games to its catalogue and give operators more choice.

SOFTSWISS recently introduced a Games List feature designed to help operators manage increasingly large game catalogues. The system allows users to filter content by provider, category, features, RTP, volatility, release date and other characteristics, reflecting the growing importance of efficient content management as online casino portfolios become more crowded.

Nikita Keino, Head of Partnerships at SOFTSWISS Game Aggregator, pointed to EdgeLabs' variety of mechanics, including jackpot prize towers, cascading wins and hold-and-win formats. That variety, he said, gives SOFTSWISS clients additional options when building differentiated casino offerings.

What does this mean for Ontario players?

For Ontario residents, the immediate impact is likely to be limited. The partnership is primarily aimed at expanding EdgeLabs' international distribution across Europe, Latin America and CIS markets. It does not automatically mean that all 50-plus titles will appear on every Ontario-regulated casino, nor does it represent the launch of a new Ontario operator.

Ontario's regulated market is governed by its own framework, with operators and suppliers required to meet the province's regulatory requirements. The iGaming Ontario directory currently lists 48 operators and 82 gaming websites, demonstrating just how crowded the market has become.

Still, Ontario is part of the bigger story. EdgeLabs is Canadian. Its expansion demonstrates that domestic suppliers are looking beyond Canada's borders rather than treating the country's regulated markets as the finish line. At the same time, Ontario's mature competitive market and Alberta's newly opened one are creating a stronger home base for Canadian iGaming businesses looking to build credibility and scale.
