LeBron James Next Team Betting Odds & Predictions: Warriors Big Favourites

As seems to be the case every summer these days, NBA free agency has been popping off with major deals almost every day. But arguably the biggest news was a move that doesn’t include any deal yet: LeBron James announced he’s on the move again.
After eight years and one championship with the Lakers in Los Angeles, LeBron is ready for the fifth chapter of his over two-decade-long career. Since then, the Lakers have made a litany of questionable moves involving mediocre assets. But LeBron has been quiet ever since his intentions were made clear on June 30.
And that allows us all to speculate until the cows come home. Unsurprisingly, NBA betting odds on where LeBron would end up for the 2026-2027 season sprang up almost instantly after the report. The Golden State Warriors are a big favourite to land the guy they used to battle in the Finals every year.
We break down why they’re the front-runners and whether any other team could swoop in and sign the King themselves. Read on for the betting odds on LeBron’s next team as well as our analysis and predictions!
Highlights
- The Golden State Warriors are the odds-on favourite with hefty -250 odds
- LeBron making a second return to Cleveland could be in the cards
- Philly has entered the sweepstakes following their big Jaylen Brown trade

The Favourite: Golden State Warriors (-250)
There has been a lot of smoke here, but most recently, it has been tamped down a bit. ESPN Warriors beat writer Anthony Slater reported on July 2 that the Warriors themselves don’t think they’re on top of LeBron’s wish list of destinations. This despite their -250 odds to land the superstar.
The reason many think the Warriors will land LeBron is simply the belief that they want him, and LeBron would want to join forces with Steph Curry. Eagle eyed fans have noticed LeBron recently re-uploaded an episode of his podcast he did with Steph Curry where they talked about how the basketball they played together was “perfect.”
Draymond Green opting out of his contract is also viewed as the team freeing up space to acquire James. Draymond’s love for LeBron and LeBron and Curry’s love for each other are no secret, so there’s definitely still a good chance he lands in the Bay. But the odds don’t compute for us.
Best of the Rest: Cleveland Cavaliers (+170) and Miami Heat (+800)
Elsewhere, the Cleveland Cavaliers seem like a very intriguing option. They went to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. And while they got swept, they have a great young core that now has solid playoff experience.
Donovan Mitchell and James Harden can handle ball-handling duties, and Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley can do the heavy-lifting in the front court. LeBron wouldn’t have to contribute much. In fact, he could probably take on the lightest load of his career. And if he’s going to leave his wife and daughter in L.A., where better to land than in Cleveland, where his mother still lives in the first mansion the King ever bought.
LeBron is also familiar with the area and beloved by the fans for having brought their first championship in 2016. It seems like a fairytale ending for LeBron if he can return to his hometown and win them another ring. At +170 odds, this feels like a much better value bet than the Warriors.
The Heat are also in the mix, but after their ground-shaking trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, it seems unlikely. We also can’t imagine him returning to any previous teams except the Cavs.
One other intriguing player is the Philadelphia 76ers, who reports on July 2 say have entered the LeBron James chat after making their own big trade to acquire Jaylen Brown to play alongside former MVP Joel Embiid. That would be a formidable group with James added in there, and at +5,000, it’s hard to say the juice is not worth the squeeze.
