Jacksonville and Philadelphia cross the Atlantic for a Week 5 matchup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the gap between these two teams looks wider than a typical international game. The Jaguars are 3-1 and allowing just 13.3 points a game, second in the league, while the Eagles have lost two straight and rank 29th in total offence. These NFL prediction picks lean heavily toward the Jags this week, with good reason with the issues with Philly.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Philadelphia Eagles Best Bet

Jacksonville Jaguars -7.5: -108

I'm backing Jacksonville -7.5 here. The Jaguars have held three of their four opponents under 18 points, including a 35-6 blowout of New England. , and Philadelphia arrives off back-to-back losses in which it scored just 27 combined points against the Bears and the Rams. A 7.5 point spread is not small, but the gap between the Jax defence and the Philly offence is wide enough to make it work for me.

Jacksonville vs Philadelphia Analysis

The Jacksonville side

Trevor Lawrence has thrown 8 touchdowns against 2 interceptions through four games, completing 72 of 104 passes for 843 yards. Solid numbers but not great for a QB ranking 19th in QBR and leading an offence that ranks 12th in points per game. The bigger story is the defence anchored by Josh Hines-Allen, and the main reason this line is catchable rather than risky for a 7.5-point favourite.

The Philadelphia side

Jalen Hurts has 713 yards, 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on the season, but Philadelphia's offence has stalled in each of the last two weeks, a 27-7 loss to the Bears and a 24-20 defeat to the Rams where they were outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter and for the game were 0-12 on third down. The Eagles are 2-2, and the 23.3 ppg they are allowing on defence is the bigger worry now against a Jacksonville attack that is averaging 26 ppg this season. On top of that, star RB Saquon Barkley was injured in the last game and listed as questionable to face the Jags.

Jacksonville vs Philadelphia Prediction

Jacksonville's moneyline price of -370 at Bet365 implies a de-vigged win probability of 75 percent, and I put the number a couple of points higher, around 77 percent. The market looks close to efficient here rather than badly mispriced, so my conviction rests on a specific factor: Philadelphia's offence has gone cold in back-to-back weeks, and that is a tougher matchup problem against a strong Jacksonville defence. This is one of the cleaner NFL picks experts will lean toward this week, even with a big number attached.

My Exact Score Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars 27, Philadelphia Eagles 13

I predict Jacksonville wins 27-13, comfortable enough to cover the 7.5 points without turning into a shootout. Lawrence's efficient start carries the offence, and a Jaguars defence that has not allowed more than 20 points in any game this season against a Philadelphia group that has not scored 21 in its last two games. The combined total of 40 sits under both the 41.5 and 42.0 lines on the board. My call is Jacksonville -7.5, with the Under 42 points in a lower-scoring affair.
