The 2026 NFL season is now under five months away, and apart from the rookie class, most teams have pretty much made the moves they’re going to make this offseason. Except, of course, if you’re waiting for a 42-year-old QB to make up his mind. But I digress.

The Favorite: Arizona Cardinals (+240)
The Arizona Cardinals finished at the bottom of the league with a 3-14 record last year, though three other teams also had the same record. Arizona is the favorite to be the first team to repeat as the worst in the league in five years, since the Urban Meyer Jags did it in 2021 after they tanked for Trevor Lawrence in 2020.
The Cardinals are in a different situation. They didn’t get the top pick based on tiebreakers, and with only one proper QB in this rookie class, it looks like they’re content to roll out Jacoby Brissett at QB for another year.
Brissett is actually pretty good, but he doesn’t inspire a lot of excitement. And the real reason this team was terrible was its defense, which allowed 28.7 points a game last year, fourth-most in football. They haven’t made many moves to improve it, which suggests they could be tanking for real in 2026 to hit it big in the 2027 draft.
The Best of the Rest: Miami Dolphins (+425) & New York Jets (+750)
The Cardinals are a good bet, but they don’t offer a lot of value. It might be worth looking at the AFC East for a better option. The Dolphins have put their hopes on an unproven Malik Willis. Maybe Willis is good, but it’s hard to imagine him having much success after all his weapons were shipped out. De’Von Achane is the last man standing, and even he’s not guaranteed to stay with the team. This looks like a full rest in Miami, which means under five wins feels likely.
The Jets are offering way more value, and we’re not sure why. But that makes them a better bet at +750. Geno Smith was shocking last year, and in a situation that’s arguably just as bad in New York, we’re not sure the 35-year-old will bounce back again. He struggled early in his career with the New York media and fans, and they haven’t gotten any less insane. Owner Woody Johnson will continue to run this team into the ground in 2026.
Dark Horse Candidate: Indianapolis Colts (+4,000)
Indy put all their eggs in the Daniel Jones basket. He looked good last year, but he’s looked awful before. Which version will we get in 2026? If it’s the bad version, these +4,000 odds start looking really really good. The defense is decent and the weapons are solid, so this is a dart throw based solely on the chance that Indiana Jones devolves back into Danny Dimes.
