Cleopatra Keno leads Alberta’s opening month
The early Alberta winner is IGT’s Cleopatra Keno, which claimed the No. 1 position on bet365’s platform during July. SpinPlay’s Amazing Link Zeus finished second, while Eruption Blaze CASHINGO from Games Global’s Slingshot Studios took third.

There is an immediate takeaway for suppliers: Alberta has not produced a single dominant slot formula. Gates of Olympus, one of the most recognizable modern slot franchises, appears alongside keno, jackpot mechanics, Asian-themed content and other established titles.
It’s important to note that bet365 is not basing these rankings on a simple measure such as spins. Its monthly report evaluates more than 7,500 slot-specific games across roughly 20 regulated markets and uses an algorithm incorporating metrics including revenue, stakes, sessions and engagement. In other words, these rankings provide an early commercial signal, not merely a list of games being clicked.
Why bet365’s Alberta data matters
Founded in 2000, bet365 is a global betting company that now employs more than 10,000 people and has more than 120 million customers worldwide. Its Alberta entry includes online casino and sportsbook products available on both desktop and betting apps, following years in which the brand was accessible to Alberta customers outside the province’s regulated framework. With bet365 already having experience operating across Canadian markets, it has a valuable reference point for comparing Alberta with Ontario and the rest of the country.
The differences are already noticeable. In Ontario, which has been regulated since 2022, Games Global’s Area Link Phoenix Firestorm remained No. 1, while Pragmatic Play’s Sugar Rush Super Scatter jumped 27 places to second. In the rest-of-Canada segment, Pragmatic Play placed three games in the top 10, including two versions of Gates of Olympus. Every title in Alberta, meanwhile, was effectively a new entry in the provincial rankings, and bet365 itself cautioned that one month is nowhere near enough to establish lasting consumer trends.
Alberta becomes a laboratory for game developers
For operators, the immediate battle is customer acquisition. For suppliers, Alberta represents something different: a fresh testing ground. More than 50 licensed betting sites and almost 60 approved gaming-system providers were already part of the market around launch, creating a crowded ecosystem in which operators need compelling content to differentiate themselves. The first-month rankings suggest suppliers should not assume that what works in Ontario will automatically work in Alberta.
That could become one of Alberta’s most important long-term effects. As operators collect larger datasets, suppliers will learn which themes, mechanics, volatility profiles and jackpot features resonate with Albertans. The market may eventually develop its own distinct slot identity rather than simply becoming Ontario West.
There is also a broader regulatory implication. If Alberta succeeds in moving players away from offshore sites, the government will gain a clearer picture of consumer behaviour while directing gambling activity into an environment with centralized self-exclusion and other player-protection measures.
For now, Cleopatra Keno is sitting atop the Alberta throne. But the province’s remarkably varied top 10 that suggests Alberta’s casino market has plenty of room left to reveal itself. And that makes bet365’s next report worth watching. It will be interesting to see whether Cleopatra Keno can hold the top spot once the novelty of the province’s new casino market wears off.
