Bruins vs Sabres Game 3 Analysis
Boston may be a Wild Card team, but that certainly doesn’t mean they weren’t going to give Buffalo a run for their money in this series. Game 1 could’ve easily gone their way as well. The Bruins were up 3-0 in the third before the Sabres answered with four goals in the final frame. Nevertheless, Boston responded on Tuesday, giving them momentum heading back home.
The visitors once again took a 3-0 lead into the third, but this time, they didn’t blow it. The Bruins scored another in the period, while Buffalo also scored twice. Viktor Arvidsson led the way offensively with a pair of goals, while David Pastrnak registered two assists. Jeremy Swayman was solid in goal, making 35 saves. Boston was also terrific on the penalty kill, despite going to the box five times.
The Sabres were easily the biggest surprise of this 2026 campaign, winning the Atlantic Division, which is full of extremely talented teams. They of course lit the building on fire with the Game 1 comeback win, and while Buffalo fell short of replicating the series opener in Game 2, they still put up a fight. That being said, the Sabres need to come out of the gates with more fire, because playing from behind in the playoffs simply isn’t a recipe for success if a deep run is going to become a reality.
Alex Tuch has been one of Buffalo’s most productive players so far in these playoffs, scoring once and tallying a pair of assists. Tage Thompson has also notched three points, but he couldn’t produce goods in Game 2, putting six pucks on net with zero points. While the Sabres did lose both meetings with Boston on the road in the regular season, they will surely be more prepared from puck drop after a couple of shaky games to start this series.
Bruins vs Sabres Game 3 Picks
Although I expect this series to go the distance, Boston undoubtedly feeds off the home crowd, and they’re unbeaten in 2025-26 against Buffalo at the TD Garden. The Bruins will take a 2-1 series lead on Thursday.
