The Denver Nuggets lost three straight games earlier in this series. Usually when that happens, it’s 1-2-3 Cancun time. But luckily they were down only 3-1. And now they’re down 3-2 after an extremely chippy double-digit win in what is becoming one of the most entertaining playoff rivalries in basketball.

Game 6 brings proceedings back to Minnesota, where the Timberwolves will look to close the series out sans Donte DiVincenzo and, more importantly, Anthony Edwards. The Wolves looked spry without their superstar in Game 5, but how long can a team go in these playoffs on belief and effort?

The Nuggets would seem to have the talent advantage with Ant Man out, and they will try to press that advantage in Game 6. Will they do so successfully? Read on for our picks and predictions for the contest as well as the top NBA betting odds in Canada!

Highlights

  • Minnesota is 13-12 without Anthony Edwards over the last 2 seasons
  • The over is 20-8 when the Nuggets are away favorites this season
  • Jamal Murray has hit 3+ triples in 6 of 9 games in the month of April

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves Spread/Moneyline Prediction

The Timberwolves fought until the very end in Game 5, cutting a 27-point lead down to 10 in the fourth quarter. But it really felt like, without Anthony Edwards, they had to do everything perfectly while relying on a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes from Denver and some very non-playoff foul calls from the referee.

After that run fell flat, they will be frustrated and likely a little bit exasperated. Nikola Jokic still hasn’t had an excellent game in this series (by his standards), and we expect him to erupt at some point. When you lose by double-digits after shooting 51 percent from the field and 43 from deep like the Wolves did here, you’re going to be left scratching your head. We think the Nuggets push this one to seven.

Best Bet: Denver Nuggets Alternative -4.5 Point Spread (-130)

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves Over/Under Prediction

Tying this in with our pick against the spread, the over is 15-5 in the last 20 Nuggets wins. That means a Denver win usually means a high-scoring affair. And that’s because the Nuggets are at their best when they’re playing fast and fluid on the break. Without two of their primary ball-handlers, Minnesota is going to be more prone to turnovers, which means more quick points for the road team. Denver is the top-scoring team in the league and Minnesota is not far behind in seventh. This total feels low.

Best Bet: Game Total Points Over 225.0 (-110)

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves Player Prop Best Bet

We like Nikola Jokic to have a big game, but we prefer the value we found on his sidekick Jamal Murray to hit three triples in this game at -170 odds. He’s done it in six of the last nine contests, but only two of the five in this series. He hasn’t shot the ball very well since Game 2, and with Edwards and DiVincenzo not there to hound him, we think he takes advantage this time around and finds success on the perimeter. He actually scores more points on the road (27.1) than at home (23.7), and he averages over three triples in each location across the season.

Best Bet: Jamal Murray To Make 3+ Three-Pointers (-170)
