Everton vs Chelsea Analysis
The Toffees are off to a great start in 2026-27, sitting as one of only three unbeaten teams in the Premier League alongside first-place Manchester City and Brentford. Moyes’ side are in fifth place ahead of this weekend, collecting a 2-4-0 record. They’ve only bagged eight goals in six games but have also conceded just five, which is tied for the league-low.
Everton settled for a draw last weekend at Hull in what proved to be an exhilarating fixture. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall drew the visitors level early in the second half before Thierno Barry fired the Toffees ahead just 13 minutes later. But, they conceded the equalizer in the 74th minute. Everton controlled 65% of the ball, but struggled to put away their opportunities. Facing a more vulnerable Chelsea backline on Saturday, the hosts will fancy their chances.
Chelsea’s attack has looked like one of the best in Europe early on under Xabi Alonso, but the Blues have struggled defensively, which helps explain their 3-1-2 record. That said, the Blues are level on points with Everton, and could leapfrog them in the table with a victory here.
Alonso’s men have netted an impressive 15 goals but have allowed 13. They did look much better last weekend though, smashing the Cherries 5-1. Joao Pedro continued to thrive in the final third with a pair of goals, while Jordan Henderson also scored a brace. Morgan Rogers, Chelsea’s marquee summer signing, also found the back of the net, bagging the first goal of the match.
Everton vs Chelsea Injury News
Everton have a few fitness concerns heading into Saturday, with Vitalii Mykolenko doubtful after missing the Hull City clash due to an injury sustained on international duty. Christian Norgaard and Merlin Rohl are also working their way back to full fitness, although both could be available.
Chelsea are dealing with several notable absentees. Reece James remains doubtful with a knee injury, while Jamie Gittens is sidelined with an ankle issue. Emmanuel Emegha is also a fitness concern, although the striker has returned to training and could be available. Moises Caicedo is fit again after recently dealing with an injury.
Everton vs Chelsea Picks
The Toffees have really held their own through the first couple of months, but it’s hard for me to overlook the clinical finishing and chemistry that this Chelsea frontline has. This is a much better side than the one who lost 3-0 to Everton on Merseyside in March. I’ll confidently take the visitors at plus money.
