Golden Knights vs Hurricanes Game 1 Odds

The Hurricanes are a -150 moneyline favorite at NHL betting sites. The Golden Knights come back at +129. The O/U is set at 5.5 goals.
These two teams met twice during the regular season, with Vegas winning both matchups. However, it’s important to note that Carolina didn't beat Montreal during the regular season either before dominating them in the conference finals.
Golden Knights vs Hurricanes Game 1 Analysis
The Golden Knights may be one of the youngest franchises in the National Hockey League, but they’ve already found a ton of success since 2018. They reached the Cup Finals in their inaugural season and won their first title in 2023. Now, Vegas has a chance to capture a second Stanley Cup, and the franchise isn’t even 10 years old. No one gave them much of a chance in the conference finals against the mighty Avalanche, but the Golden Knights proved everybody wrong.
They absolutely outplayed the Cup favorites, pulling out the brooms to send Nathan MacKinnon and Co. home packing. En route to the Cup Finals, the Golden Knights also got past the Utah Mammoth and the Anaheim Ducks. Mitch Marner has been the leading catalyst for the Knights in the playoffs, tallying a team-best 21 points, and he’ll be poised to lift his first title. Seven different players on this roster have reached double figures in points in the playoffs. They have terrific depth, but so does Carolina. Needless to say, this is their toughest test yet.
It looked like the Avalanche and Hurricanes were on a collision course to meet in the Finals, but Vegas had other plans and now Carolina must contend with a red-hot Golden Knights squad. The Canes looked like the most complete team entering the playoffs, and they've validated that belief every step of the way. Rod Brind’Amour’s group has only lost once through the first three rounds, and that was in Game 1 of the conference finals against the Habs. After that, Carolina ran off four straight victories.
After a pair of close contests in Games 2 and 3, the Hurricanes proceeded to outscore Montreal 10-1 across Games 4 and 5. It was a one-sided show, and Carolina certainly made it clear they’re the team to beat in these Finals. While that doesn’t mean they’re going to take Vegas for granted, the Hurricanes are the deserving favorite. Taylor Hall, Logan Stankoven, and Jackson Blake lead the Canes in playoff points, and all three got on the scoresheet in Game 5. On both ends of the ice, this is an incredible team, and netminder Frederik Andersen comes in hot. He allowed just five goals through the final four games of the Canadiens series.
Golden Knights vs Hurricanes Game 1 Picks
Carolina has been dominant on home ice, and the atmosphere at Lenovo Center only adds to that advantage. While I do believe Vegas will make this a competitive series, Carolina should cruise in Game 1 in Raleigh. Andersen is giving up just 1.41 GAA in the playoffs, and the Hurricanes offense is flourishing with 10 goals in their last two games. Expect another impressive performance.
