Odds Movement

A lot of poor QB play in Week 1 means a lot of the top contenders here saw their odds get longer, which is good news for anyone that waited to make their future bet on those guys. Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy, and Drake Maye all saw their odds take a bump.

Tyler Shough was the big mover, as his Week 1-high 410 yards dropped him from out of the picture at +2,200 to very much in the center of the frame at +850. Jordan Love also took a massive leap down to +900 after his 387-yard performance in a brutal loss to the Vikings.

Other guys whose odds got smaller after the first week were Trevor Lawrence, Caleb Williams, and C.J. Stroud.

Preseason Best Bet: Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (+750)

What more can you ask for? Prescott finished third last year with over 4,500 yards, he clearly likes new head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s offence, he’s got two All-Pro talents at wideout, a giant at tight end, a 1,200-yard rusher, and a top five offensive line.

And the Cowboys play in a dome. This is really gift-wrapped for Prescott. In his last three full seasons he has thrown for about 4,500 yards, but he tossed it for over 4,900 back in 2019. And this is the best offence he’s ever had.

Preseason Long Shot Dark Horse Candidate: Kyler Murray, Minnesota Vikings (+4,000)

This is such a long shot, Kyler Murray isn’t even on our odds table, where he would have been tied for 19th. Much like Prescott, Murray is coming into a really good situation. While he has never thrown for 4,000 yards in his career, he has all the tools to do it and then some.

First off, the Vikings have a tough schedule that could lead to a lot of passing situations. He also has an excellent receiving corps with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings, and T.J. Hockenson. Kevin O’Connell’s track record is also excellent: Kirk Cousins was 4th in 2022, Cousins was leading the league when he went down in 2023, and Sam Darnold was 5th in 2024.
