Odds Movement

Much like with the OPOY race, the preseason favourite for the MVP race, Josh Allen, is making it tough for anyone to leapfrog him. He’s 2-0, tied for the league lead with four rushing touchdowns, top five in passing yards (582), and has five passing TDs as well. It’s going to take a real fall from grace to push him off his pedestal.

Meanwhile, his main challengers have been iffy. Lamar Jackson is still second at +650, but he was so-so in Week 2, as as Joe Burrow. Brock Purdy has been great, pushing himself to third on the odds board. Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, Trevor Lawrence, and Matthew Stafford also seem to be in the mix. Keep an eye on passing leader Tyler Shough as well, who’s popped up at +4,000 odds here.

The Favourite: Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills (+650)

We were reticent to bet on Josh Allen back in the spring, and with his odds continuing to shorten, he doesn't offer a ton of value even if he is the favourite. He’s been in the conversation nearly every year since 2021, and he finally won one in 2024.

The addition of a bonafide WR1 in D.J. Moore cannot be understated: when Stefon Diggs was in town, Allen was putting up gaudy numbers every year. He’ll also have that improved ground game led by James Cook and one more year of chemistry with head coach Joe Brady, who was supposedly the QB’s choice to replace Sean McDermott last year.
