Odds Movement
Week 1 had a big impact on these odds. The Dolphins dropped to the bottom with +2,000 odds as the Cardinals jumped up to +1,200 after their shocking upset win over the Chargers. Speaking of the Bolts, they were one of three teams, along with the Packers and Cowboys, who saw their odds flip from minus (-) to plus (+) after Week 1.
There are also a few teams that won in Week 1 that are still offering plus (+) odds. The Cardinals, Jets, and Raiders all won but remain (fairly) near the bottom of this odds board. The Vikings, Steelers, and Giants are also 1-0 with plus (+) odds, which means they're offering some value here ahead of Week 2.
Preseason Best Value Bets: Chicago Bears (+108), Pittsburgh Steelers (+156), Washington Commanders (+220)
The Chicago Bears actually won the NFC North last year with an 11-win season. We don’t think they’ll win as many games in 2026, but they’re well-coached and well-quarterbacked, and whenever you see a team like that offering +108 odds, you jump on it.
Aaron Rodgers returned to Pittsburgh for one last season, and newly appointed veteran head coach Mike McCarthy is not here for a rebuild either. They’ve credibly revamped their offensive line, the addition of Michael Pittman Jr. will be a boon for Rodgers, and they have the most expensive (and talented?) defense in the league. They might not win a game for the umpteenth time, but they’ll be playing in January.
The Washington Commanders had a mighty fall from grace last year, which explains their +220 odds. But they still have 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels, so we don’t expect that they will be down for long.
Preseason Safe Bet Parlay: Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos (+274 parlay odds)
There’s simply no way the Detroit Lions miss the playoffs for a second straight year with a roster this talented. In Philly, there may have been a lot of off-field drama, but that has seemingly gone to Boston, and they seemingly already drafted an A.J. Brown replacement in Makai Lemon. They should be an easy one here.
The only one we’re slightly unsure of is the Denver Broncos, but after running all the way to the AFC Championship Game last year, we believe in this defense as well as the Bo Nix-Sean Payton combo.
Preseason Long Shot Dart Throw: Carolina Panthers (+235)
This is not necessarily a super long shot considering they made the playoffs last year and nearly shocked the Rams in the Wild Card round. But here they are with +235 odds, and considering we like them to win the NFC South for the second straight year, these simply could not be ignored. If you really want to get crazy, the Raiders at +500 could be a shout if Kirk Cousins can turn back the clock and lead a competent offense.
