After a UFC Vegas 121 event at the Apex last week that was light on star power but high on excitement, the promotion will hope they can recreate that unexpected intrigue with the tepid lineup they’ve put together for UFC 332 in Salt Lake City.

The early prelims actually have the most recognizable names on this card, but headlining the main card, which begins at 8 p.m. ET, is a battle for the now-vacant women’s flyweight championship. UFC legend Valentina Shevchenko had to bow out of the main card–and relinquish her belt–after sustaining an injury recently.

In her stead, No. 1 contender Natalia Silva and No. 6 Wang Cong will face off for the vacant women’s flyweight strap. Silva comes in as a not insignificant -205 odds favourite, as she has an unblemished record dating back to 2017. Cong is also on a four-fight win streak, however.

Who will take Shevchenko’s vacated throne and the almost-certain ensuing matchup with Shevchenko with a win on Saturday night? Read on for our fight predictions as well as the latest UFC betting odds!

Highlights

  • Natalia Silva has won 14 straight fights dating back to 2017
  • Cong beat her toughest opponent yet, Tracy Cortez, in July
  • No. 1 contender Silva comes in as a -205 odds favourite over No. 6 Cong

Natalia Silva (20-5-1) was the one who was supposed to get a shot at Shevchenko this weekend. She has won 14 straight fights dating back to 2017, including all eight of her UFC appearances. She deserved the title shot, and even though it’s not against the greatest to ever do it at 135, Wang Cong (10-1) is a worthy challenger.

The Chinese challenger has gone 5-1 since joining the UFC in 2024, but apart from her last win over Tracy Cortez–which was also pretty recent, less than three months ago in July–she has no impressive wins on her resume.

Silva, meanwhile, has been fighting the best there is at women’s flyweight for the past few years. Her last three wins have come over former women’s strawweight champ Rose Namajunas, former women’s flyweight champ Alexa Grasso (also one of just two women ever to finish Shevchenko), and another former strawweight champ in Jessica Andrade.

That’s about as impressive a resume as you can have in the women’s UFC ranks. Cong is five years older, but Silva is the one who is more experienced and more prepared for this fight.

The Brazilian’s moneyline odds are -205, which is not awful. However, we want to add a little juice by taking her method of victory prop for a win via decision at +105. Silva’s last five straight wins have come via decision and Cong has only been finished once in her career.
