The 2026 NFL season will be capped off by Super Bowl LXI, or 61, which is now just about 300 days away. And those days are going to pass by quicker than you think. With that in mind, we’re diving into the deep library of NFL futures betting markets available at sports betting sites across Canada.

This time, we take a look at the futures market concerning which conference, the AFC or NFC, will produce the team that hoists the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl 61. With the league now a nice and even 60 years into the Super Bowl era, does either conference hold a major edge?

Well, as you might imagine, the answer there is a resounding no. The NFC has a slight lead, but a 31-29 advantage doesn’t exactly signal dominance or any kind of reliable trend bettors can follow.

Instead, a better way to bet on this market would be to: A) simply think about which team you think is going to win the Super Bowl this year, or B) consider the field in either conference and how many teams each side has that could actually win it all in 2026. Read on for the NFL betting odds as well as our analysis and predictions!

Highlights

  • The AFC and NFC have split the last 10 Super Bowls 10-10
  • Across the first 60 Super Bowls, the NFC has a slight 31-29 advantage
  • The top 2 SB favorites are NFC teams, but the next 4 are AFC teams

The Favorite: NFC (-115)

The NFC field contains both the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the favorites to win it in 2026 in the Los Angeles Rams. There’s also a handful of uber-talented teams that could go on a run at any time with the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Detroit Lions.

Those five teams present a great chance for the NFC to pay out on this market. We don’t expect the Seahawks to repeat, but the Rams are clearly in win-now mode and have the horses to make good on that. Meanwhile, the other three are not short on talent, but on intangibles.

The Eagles had a drama-filled year in 2025, and we expect them to clear the air and their immense talent to shine through again. The 49ers simply can’t continue to have the injury luck that has derailed their last two seasons, the latter of which still ended with a playoff win. And the Lions would seem to be in a use it or lose it situation with their exciting core. With the Rams, Eagles, Lions, and 49ers, the NFC presents a solid case.

The Underdog: AFC (-105)

The AFC’s heavy hitters will be, as always, the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Kansas City Chiefs. However, there are big questions surrounding all of those squads. The Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals are also a consideration, but we think Denver missed their perfect chance last year and the Bengals are just too poorly constructed as a team.

The Chiefs are really the big one here. Betting on the AFC means you believe Patrick Mahomes will return full force and lead K.C. back to the promised land. Or, you might believe that Josh Allen overcomes a rookie coach and the monkey on his back to finally not only make his first Super Bowl, but also win it. Ditto for Lamar Jackson and his Ravens, who have struggled even more under the pressure of the NFL playoffs in recent years. The NFC feels like it has a more proven field of Super Bowl candidates that could be heading for big seasons.
