NBA Futures 2026-2027: Western Conference Winner Betting Odds & Best Bets

Public Domain
The 2026-2027 NBA calendar is very much underway with most rosters now set following the NBA Draft and informal free agent frenzy period last week. And that means we can start looking on betting sites for way too early betting odds on futures markets for the upcoming NBA campaign.
The Western Conference felt like a two-horse race last season. And it seems the oddsmakers think that’s going to be the case again next year, with the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder offering by far the lowest odds on the board here. But will history repeat itself, or will a new team swoop in and crash the Spurs-Thunder party?
Read on for the latest odds on the 2027 Western Conference champion futures betting market as well as a look at a couple dark horse candidates!
Highlights
- The Spurs and Thunder are the big favourites
- No other teams have odds shorter than +1,200 to win the Western Conference
- The same teams have faced off in back-to-back West Finals just twice in NBA history

The Favorites: San Antonio Spurs (+145) and OKC Thunder (+150)
As you can see, this Western Conference odds board is very stilted, with the Spurs (+145) and Thunder (+150) the only two teams with odds shorter than +1,200. That’s a massive chasm between the top two teams in the conference and the rest of the field. But is it really that big?
The Spurs struggled in their six-game win over the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, and Minnesota got a lot better after trading for LaMelo Ball without giving up any of their core pieces (Julius Randle doesn’t count). The Thunder also looked more than beatable in their seven-game loss to the Spurs.
We fully expect the race for the No. 1 seed in the West to be between the Spurs and Thunder again like it was last season, but we don’t see them meeting again in the West Finals in 2027: only twice in NBA history have the same teams from the Western Conference met in back-to-back Conference Finals. The Lakers beat the Spurs in 1982 and 1983, and the Lakers and Bucks swapped wins in 1971 and 1972. It’s been over 40 years.
However, one of these teams is definitely going to be in the West Finals, you can guarantee that. But will they take the series? At this point in early July, it doesn’t feel like the 50/50 proposition that bookies are making it out to be. So much can happen over the next 10 months, including injuries to major players. If San Antonio’s odds were closer to +400 or +500, we would consider it, but at the moment, they’re not worth the trouble.
Dark Horse Candidate: Golden State Warriors (+1,800) or Denver Nuggets (+1,200)
Who has the best shot at dethroning those top two? The Timberwolves at +1,200 are very intriguing considering how tough they played the Spurs last year, but there are a couple other teams we like just a little bit better.
Also at +1,200, the Nuggets seem primed for a big bounce back after going out sad in the first round to Minnesota last year. They bring back the same talented core, and we expect Jamal Murray to improve on one of his worst seasons in the league last year. Cam Johnson should also start finding more chemistry with the team.
For a bit of a longer shot, we like the Warriors at +1,800. This one is purely based on potential, so don’t put your life savings on it. But if the Warriors sign LeBron James as Ontario sportsbooks expect him to (they’re -250 favourites), these odds are going to plummet, so getting them now offers a ton of value.
We’re not saying getting the King automatically means they win the West, but we expect they will go into full-out desperation win-now mode and make more moves to get Steph Curry and LeBron to a Finals together.
