Everton vs Crystal Palace Odds

Everton enters Saturday’s season opener as a slight +122 moneyline favorite at soccer betting sites. Crystal Palace are priced at +240 on the road, making this one of the more evenly matched fixtures on the opening-weekend slate. A draw is also priced at +240.

The Toffees enjoyed the better of this matchup last season, beating Palace 2-1 on home soil in October before the sides played out a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park in May. Everton has now gone unbeaten in 11 consecutive meetings with the Eagles.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Analysis

The Toffees may not be a club that is playing in Europe, but they’re usually around mid-table. Last term saw Everton finish in 13th place with a 13-10-15 record, and just three points behind 10th-place Chelsea. Moyes’ men bagged 47 goals while conceding 50 in 38 matches. Beto was the leading man in the final third for the Toffees, scoring nine Premier League goals. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry were also productive, netting eight apiece.

Everton has done some decent business in the summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Brennan Johnson, Christian Norgaard, and Hayden Hackney. But, Moyes has already publicly voiced that he’d like to see the club sign more players before the window closes. Jack Grealish could still return on a permanent basis from Manchester City after impressing in his loan spell before a season-ending injury.

Palace heads into a new era after Oliver Glasner left the club this summer, on the heels of the club’s UEFA Conference League triumph. Former RC Lens boss Pierre Sage has replaced Glasner, signing a deal until 2029. The Eagles finished in 15th place last term with an 11-12-15 record, and just four points behind Everton.

The Eagles have been busy this summer, recently signing US youngster Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake. He joins Oscar Mingueza, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Dwight McNeil, Evann Guessand and Anan Khalaili among the club’s new additions. The biggest loss, however, was Maxence Lacroix, who joined Chelsea. Sage has spoken on the desire to add more talent before the transfer window shuts, but he’s also confident in the group at hand.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Injury News

Everton will be without James Garner as the midfielder continues to deal with a groin injury. Tim Iroegbunam is also a fitness doubt, although Moyes otherwise has most of his first-team squad available for this clash.

Crystal Palace has some uncertainty surrounding their midfield as well, with Adam Wharton reportedly sidelined due to an ankle injury. McNeil and Cheick Doucouré are also considered fitness doubts ahead of the trip to Merseyside.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Picks

The Toffees have looked very impressive against Palace in recent memory, and they’re a very organized side under Moyes. The Eagles are going through change, and it could take them some time to find their footing with a new boss. I’ll back Everton to continue their success versus the Eagles.
