Betting on which NFL quarterback is going to lead the league in interceptions is a little bit different than other statistical categories. For others, the more of a stat someone racks up, the better they are. But the more interceptions a QB throws, the more likely that they’re going to be benched, thereby stopping them from throwing anymore.

So, you want a bad QB, but not one so bad that they’ll get benched for their misadventures. Read on for the latest NFL betting odds on the 2026 NFL interceptions thrown leader futures betting market. And check out our best bet and long shot picks while you’re at it!

Highlights

  • Geno Smith led the league in interceptions last year, with 17 in 15 starts
  • Only 3 QBs have ever led the league in INTs thrown in back-to-back seasons
  • Our pick last year, Joe Flacco, was leading the league before he was benched

The Favourites

Vinny Testaverde (1988-89), Joe Namath (1974-75 & 1966-67), and George Blanda (1962-1965) are the only QBs ever to lead the league in INTs in two straight seasons. If you don’t recognize those names, shame on you. But also, it’s understandable: Vinny’s successive seasons leading the league happened before the favourite to lead the NFL this year, Geno Smith (+950), was even born.

But we say all that to say Geno will not be the guy. +950 is great value on the favourite for any betting market, but considering he led the league with 17 last year, the pattern precludes him. It hasn’t happened in 37 years, why now? Smith is not a bad pick considering his situation, but there are others with better odds and similar situations that don’t also have a 40-year trend blocking their path. Plus, we could see 2026 fourth-round pick Cade Klubnik coming in at some point for Smith if he really struggles.

Our Best Bet: Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins (+1,500)

The guy hasn’t thrown an interception since 2022, but the stretch since then has seen Malik Willis throw just 94 passes. That’s a very limited sample size. And now Miami is throwing him in the deep end with nothing to keep him afloat but De’Von Achane and Tutu Atwell.

Willis looked good under a really good offensive mind in Matt LaFleur and a really solid and professional team in the Packers last year. That’s not the case on South Beach. Like at all. And the best part is: if Willis really struggles, the Dolphins are likely to steer into the storm as they are clearly in tank mode for the 2026 campaign.

Long Shot Dark Horse Candidate: Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks (+2,000)

Sam Darnold won the Super Bowl last year, it’s true. But he actually finished third in the NFL with 14 regular season interceptions as well. With Kenneth Walker gone and the Seahawks likely to regress some after winning the big one, Darnold could be throwing the ball a lot more. If Darnold starts the entire season–which we imagine he will, it would be kind of crazy to bench a guy the year after he helped you win a Super Bowl–he should be in the ballpark come December. His 12 interceptions in 2024 were also fourth that year.
