Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys: NFL Predictions, Odds & Picks | Week 7

Jalen Hurts' calf injury turned into a blood clot, and the Eagles placed him on injured reserve on October 17, ending his season and handing the offence to Tanner McKee. Philadelphia is 2-4 and averaging just 17.7 ppg, 28th in the NFL, while Dallas, also 2-4, is averaging 25.2 ppg, 11th in the league. That gap is the main reason Dallas is laying more than four points on the road, even though they have issues on the defensive side of the ball.

Dallas Cowboys -4.5: -111

I'm backing the Cowboys to cover this number. McKee was held to 215 yards in his only start so far this season, a loss to Carolina, and Philadelphia does not rank in the top 25 in the league in passing or rushing yards per game. That combination and with a backup QB is the reason the Cowboys are the pick to win and cover even on the road. I also see a lower-scoring game, so the Under is the call. 

Javonte Williams Anytime Touchdown: -165

Javonte Williams has rushed for a TD in five of six games this season. With Philadelphia's offence unlikely to force Dallas into a pass-heavy script, I like Williams to find paydirt again on the ground.

The Dallas side

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb lead an offence ranking 11th in scoring at 25.2 ppg. Cornerback Dallas's defence has allowed 26.5 ppg, 25th in the league, with its worst outings against Baltimore and Green Bay, offences Philadelphia cannot match right. The Cowboys' last trip out, a 23-13 loss at Green Bay, is a result I expect Dallas to turn around facing a Philly team that has major issues on offense starting a backup QB with not much experience. 

The Philadelphia side

Saquon Barkley's hamstring injury, which held him out of last week's loss to Carolina, is worth rechecking before kickoff and as of Saturday is listed as questionable. The Eagles have lost four straight, scoring 20 points or fewer each time, including last week's defeat to Carolina. Dallas ranks 30th in yards allowed, but Philadelphia's offence has not shown it can exploit soft matchups with McKee under center, the real reason I don't see the Eagles keeping this within the posted spread.

Dallas's -222 moneyline on Bet365 de-vigs to a 66% win probability for the Cowboys against 34% for Philadelphia. My own number sits a little higher on Dallas, closer to 72%-28%, because I think the market is underrating just how much the Eagles' offence has struggled this season even with Hurts in the lineup.  Dallas has struggled on D but the offence, or lack thereof, from the Eagles is why the Cowboys are the pick to win and cover on Monday night.

I'm backing Dallas to win by two scores and cover the 4.5 points. McKee has yet to show he can sustain drives against a competent front, and Philadelphia's defence won't hold up over four quarters against Prescott and company. The combined 40 points lands under both the Bet365 (44.5) and Sports Interaction (44) totals, in what I expect to be a grinding, lower-scoring night throughout. My call is Dallas -4.5 with the Under.
