They certainly have two of the best offences in football, and they didn’t show much rigidity on defence in Week 1. However, the total for this game shows that sports betting sites are exceedingly aware of those facts.

Both of these teams won in Week 1, but it’s not clear that either really deserved it. The Detroit Lions will travel to Buffalo on Thursday after nearly blowing a 21-0 lead against the lowly New Orleans Saints. They won it in overtime, but only because the Saints tried to win it with a two-point convert instead of safely tying the game.

The Buffalo Bills had a better opponent in the Houston Texans, but that shouldn’t excuse the defensive performance they put up against a very mediocre Houston offence. The issues were even more glaring considering Josh Allen put on his cape again and led a 36-point offensive onslaught against a Texans defence that many view as the cream of the crop in the NFL.

Buffalo won 36-31 in the end, but it was a close run thing as C.J. Stroud led the Texans inside the Bills’ 10-yard-line in the final minute. That means neither of these teams is coming into Week 2 all that happy or satisfied with how they played in Week 1.

Unfortunately, a TNF game means they won’t have any time to dig deep into why they couldn’t stop a Pop Warner offence before they suit up again. Both offences will still be extremely talented and potent, and both defences will still have issues that were exposed in Week 1. This one’s going to have a lot of points, though the 54.5-point total is a little rich for our blood, so we’ll buy a couple points down.

Josh Allen looked unstoppable in Week 1, just as he has for the last five years. He doesn’t seem to be slowing down. And we expect him and the Bills to be in the red zone early and often against this Lions defensive unit. That means a lot of opportunities for him to either sneak in from the one or scramble in from a few yards out. We like his anytime TD odds at -140.

D.J. Moore, Allen’s long lost WR1, should also have a solid follow-up to what was pretty much the perfect Bills debut in Week 1. He had five receptions on eight targets for 100 yards and a touchdown against one of the best CBs in football in Derek Stingley Jr. Moore should have no problem putting up at least 60 percent of that against a much more suspect Lions secondary.
