LSU are sizable road favorites at football betting sites, laying 7.5 points against Auburn. The hosts return at +235 on the moneyline, while the total is set at 50.5 points.
LSU lead the all-time series 33-23-1 and have won the last two meetings. The most recent encounter came in 2023, when LSU cruised to a convincing 48-18 victory in Baton Rouge.
LSU vs Auburn Analysis
LSU have enjoyed a solid start to the Lane Kiffin era, sitting at 5-2 overall and 2-2 in SEC play. Both defeats came on the road against Ole Miss and Kentucky, but the Tigers have looked dominant at home, winning all five contests. Their offense has been particularly impressive, averaging more than 450 yards per game while boasting one of the conference's most productive passing attacks.
Kiffin's group responded emphatically to an overtime defeat against Kentucky by dismantling No. 16 Mississippi State last Saturday. Quarterback Sam Leavitt was nearly flawless, completing 31 of 38 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Jackson Harris hauled in two scores, while LSU's defense completely shut down the Bulldogs, forcing several turnovers on downs.
That defensive performance was arguably LSU's most impressive of the campaign. However, their inability to win away from Baton Rouge remains a concern, especially against an Auburn team riding high after knocking off the nation's top-ranked program. Kiffin will need another efficient performance from Leavitt to silence a hostile Jordan-Hare crowd.
Auburn have had their share of ups and downs under Alex Golesh, but last weekend's victory over Georgia could prove a turning point. The Tigers entered Athens as massive underdogs and fell behind 14-0 early, then stormed back with 24 unanswered points. Although the Bulldogs eventually tied the game, Auburn held their nerve in the closing moments.
Alex McPherson drilled a 34-yard field goal as time expired to secure the 27-24 upset. Quarterback Byrum Brown was instrumental, rushing for 115 yards and a touchdown while adding 150 passing yards and another score. His dual-threat abilities caused Georgia problems throughout the afternoon, and he'll be looking to produce another strong performance against LSU.
The Tigers have now beaten Baylor, Southern Miss, Vanderbilt, and Georgia, with their only defeats coming against Florida and Tennessee. Auburn's defense also deserves credit for forcing three turnovers against the Bulldogs. If Golesh's squad can replicate that intensity on home soil, LSU could be in for a difficult afternoon.
LSU vs Auburn Picks
LSU have the more explosive offense, but laying over a touchdown on the road feels risky against an Auburn team fresh off a massive upset. Kiffin's squad have lost both away games this season, while Brown's mobility gives the hosts another dimension offensively.
I expect LSU to move the ball, but Auburn have enough momentum and confidence to keep this competitive. The home crowd should also provide a significant boost. I'll take the points with the hosts in what could be a close SEC battle.
