Orlando Magic vs. Detroit Pistons Game 5 NBA Playoffs Odds & Game Picks

There have been a few surprises so far in this first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs, but perhaps none quite as shocking as this No. 8 Orlando Magic team going up 3-1 on the No. 1 Detroit Pistons, who had 33 percent more wins than Orlando during the regular season. But as they say, you can throw that all away once playoff basketball comes around.
The Magic pulled away in the fourth quarter for a big Game 1 upset 112-101, and the Pistons responded with a dominant 98-83 win in Game 2. However, Orlando came back with two straight tight home wins to bring us to Game 5.
Whether the Pistons can become just the 14th team and first post-COVID to come back from 3-1, we’re not sure. But Game 5 looks like a get-right game for the best team in the East this year. Read on for our betting guide, predictions, and NBA betting odds for this massive matchup in the Motor City.

Magic vs. Pistons Spread/Moneyline Prediction
Detroit has struggled in this series, and MVP candidate Cade Cunningham especially. But they won 60 games this year. And that’s not nothing. Teams that win 60 games have about a 90 percent success rate in the first round. The ones that don’t win really stick out (see: 2007 Dallas Mavericks). And they certainly don’t go out in just five games. Or at home.
It’s just not going to happen, and clearly oddsmakers agree, giving the Pistons their largest spread of the playoffs despite where they sit in the series. Detroit is going to be playing with massive desperation in this one, and we just don’t think the Magic will be able to match that. Detroit went 31-9 at home during the regular season, with only the Spurs and Thunder faring better in their home gym. A double-digit win is tough to bet on in a playoff setting, so we’ll buy a few points here.
Best Bet: Detroit Pistons Alternative -7.5 Point Spread (-160)
Magic vs. Pistons Over/Under Prediction
Both of these teams have been putting the clamps on during this series, with two of the four games seeing both teams fall below the 100-point threshold. That won’t happen this time: we’re confident that Detroit is going to hit the century mark and get a win for the first time in these playoffs.
However, their line is set at 110.5, and we’re not sure about that. Instead, we’re going to count on this young team to come out breathing fire in the first quarter to hit the over on a 28.5 first quarter points prop. They have actually averaged more first quarter points than Orlando over the last three games, with 26.0. The Pistons have averaged a hair under 30 points per first quarter throughout the entire season, good for 11th in the NBA.
Best Bet: Detroit Pistons Over 28.5 1st Quarter Points (-125)
Magic vs. Pistons Player Prop Best Bet
Cade Cunningham has shot just 15-for-48 (32 percent) from the field over the last two games. But he’s not going to stop: in the three losses in this series, he’s averaged over 30 points. And fair enough. He is their best player.
But that 11-assist performance he had in Game 2 when the Pistons blew the Magic out is what he and his coaching staff are going to be trying to replicate to get the W in Game 5. He put up 10+ dimes in eight of his final dozen regular season games, so he has no problem reaching this mark.
Best Bet: Cade Cunningham to Record 10+ Assists (+105)
