The UFC ships out to China for their latest Fight Night–No. 277 to be exact–this weekend, and the show on offer is not too shabby considering this isn’t a pay-per-view. The great gambling city of Macau commands at least a half-decent card it seems.

There are some heavy hitters (and we mean that literally) on this card. But the main attraction is in the second-lightest division in the UFC: the 135-pound bantamweights. In a division that has changed hands a couple times in recent months, this matchup between No. 5 bantamweight contender Song Yadong and No. 7 Deiveson Figueiredo could very well result in a title shot for the winner.

But will it be the aging former flyweight champ or the up-and-comer in his home country that comes out on top? We’ve got you covered with UFC betting odds, analysis, and predictions for the main event at UFC Macau this Saturday!

Highlights

  • Song Yadong (28) has a 10-year age advantage on Deiveson Figueiredo (38)
  • Figueiredo has lost 3 of his last 4 fights
  • Yadong’s last 4 fights (2-2) have all gone the distance

Song Yadong (22-9-1, 1 NC) is a massive favourite in this fight. And fair enough. Deiveson Figueiredo (25-6-1) is 10 years older than Yadong, and he has a pretty big size advantage over the Brazilian as well. Figueiredo has the heart of a lion but he just can’t fight the same way since he moved up from flyweight. Yadong has a solid 73 percent takedown defense. That paired with the size will mean Figgy has to fight the Kung Fu Kid on the feet.

Yadong has not exactly impressed recently. He’s been beaten pretty soundly by both Petr Yan and Sean O’Malley–but Yan also kind of kicked Figueiredo’s butt too. Both of these guys have underwhelmed recently, and we’re not sure either one is going to get a statement win here.

But here are just too many advantages for Yadong in this fight to pick against him. He’s at home in China, he’s younger, bigger, and stronger. But we also can’t bet on Yadong considering those odds.

Instead, we’re going to take this main event to reach the final bell after five rounds. Yadong hasn’t had a real finish in three years and two of Figueiredo’s three career losses by finish were due to injury. We get plus odds here too so we’re all over it.
