The UFC returns to Los Angeles this weekend. Believe it or not, the promotion hasn’t been to the L.A. since 2018. The main card for UFC 331 gets underway at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena, so make sure you remember to tune in an hour earlier than usual.

While the flyweight championship bout in the main event is stealing headlines, the co-main event should also be an exciting scrap. No. 2 lightweight Arman Tsarukyan and No. 10 Mauricio Ruffy are set to do battle in that penultimate matchup of UFC 331. Read on for our tale of the tape, UFC betting odds, and our best bet for the showdown!

Highlights

  • Arma Tsarukyan has won his last 5 fights
  • Mauricio Ruffy has bounced back with 2 straight wins after suffering the 2nd loss of his career in September 2025
  • Ruffy just fought three months ago on June 14 at UFC Freedom 250

Arman Tsarukyan hasn’t fought in the UFC since last November, but he’s been keeping busy with RAF grappling matches in the meantime. Tsarukyan is 10-2 in the UFC, and his only losses came in his promotional debut against Islam Makhachev and a questionable against Mateusz Gamrot in 2022.

Mauricio Ruffy is the next guy on Tsarukyan’s hit list, which already includes wins over division mainstays Beneil Dariush, Dan Hooker, and Charles Oliveira. Ruffy, meanwhile, has beaten a 40-year-old Michael Chandler and No. 12 lightweight Rafael Fiziev since getting his face cranked by Benoit Saint-Denis last September.

And that loss is one that sticks in our mind when we look at his matchup here with Tsarukyan. BSD is an excellent wrestler and submission artist, but those are also Tsarukyan’s strong points. BSD might be a more dangerous threat when it comes to submitting opponents, but the Armenian is arguably the better wrestler.

When Ruffy starts launching those kicks he loves, Tsarukyan’s going to be ready with the takedown. And we think he’s going to keep the Brazilian there for a large portion of the fight, eventually frustrating him so much that he falls into a Tsarukyan submission.
