Last year, 17 players reached the 1,000-yard rushing milestone. That’s tied with 2007 and 2010 as the highest such number since 2006, when a whopping 23 players did it. In the intervening two decades, there were several seasons with as little as seven 1,000-yard rushers. Does that mean running the football is cool again?

Is the bell cow back, back?

It certainly seems so. The NFL, like any professional sports leagues, goes through cycles on a regular basis, and it seems we’re swinging back to a league where offences are putting more focus on running the ball with one lead back. So, how many 1,000-yard rushers will we get in 2026?

Read on for our breakdown of the NFL rushing yards milestones futures betting markets for the upcoming campaign, including the latest NFL betting odds, our best bets, and a fun long shot pick!

Best Bet #1: De’Von Achane, Miami Dolphins - To Record 1,250+ Rush Yards (+300)

Freed from the shackles of a running back committee last year, De’Von Achane truly broke out with 1,350 yards on the ground. And we don’t see why or how he’s going to fall too far below that number in 2026. He’ll get the same amount of opportunities, and with Miami clearly tanking, Achane should get his looks no matter what the game script is. He had only 238 carries last year, we expect him to have at least 260 in 2026.

Best Bet #2: Kenneth Walker III, Kansas City Chiefs - To Record 1,250+ Rush Yards (+300)

We’ve written about this previously, but the Chiefs have spent the entire offseason talking about how much they love Kenneth Walker III and how much he’s going to get the ball.

Head coach Andy Reid has been his biggest fan, and Patrick Mahomes even said he intends to run the ball less, which suggests more opportunities for others. Walker had over 1,000 yards in a committee with Zach Charbonnet last year, so with the K.C. backfield all to himself, we expect him to boost those yardage numbers up to at least 1,250.

Long Shot Dart Throw: Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions - To Record 1,500+ Rush Yards (+400)

It’s not a massive long shot, but we simply had to get something in here on Jahmyr Gibbs. With David Montgomery gone (finally) and Isiah Pacheco not the player he looked like a couple of years ago, Gibbs should see all the looks he can handle on the ground.

Two years ago he had over 1,400 yards on 250 carries, last year he had just over 1,200 on a few less carries. He’s going to get up near 300 this season, and that will undoubtedly translate to at least 1,500 yards, if not a league-leading number.
