With just a month left in the college football regular season, it’s an ideal time to look at the 2025-26 National Championship futures. Ryan Day’s squad has some competition, though, as the likes of Indiana, Alabama, and Oregon are on their heels in the latest odds at sports betting sites.

Ohio State (+200)

The Buckeyes lost a plethora of talent after winning the National Championship earlier this year, but that hasn’t stopped them from playing like a legitimate contender once again. Ohio State is a perfect 8-0 and just hammered Penn State in Week 9, beating them 38-14. The Buckeyes have essentially blown out every single opponent. Ohio State has taken down the likes of Texas, Illinois, and Washington. Day’s group is allowing just 6.9 points per game while scoring 36.6 per contest. Julian Sayin leads a phenomenal offense, and he has arguably the best wide receiver in the country in Jeremiah Smith. On both sides of the ball, this Buckeyes team is terrifying, and it’s hard to imagine them not being in the CFP title game in a few months.

Indiana (+500)

The Hoosiers are giving Ohio State a run for its money in the uber-competitive Big Ten. Indiana is 9-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play, sitting in first place due to one more game played than the Buckeyes. The No. 2 ranked team in the country is also phenomenal on both ends of the field, but their offense is what’s really standing out the most. The Hoosiers are first in the country in points (46.4), third in total yards (504.9), and sixth in rushing yards (245.7). QB transfer Fernando Mendoza has completed 72.3% of his throws for 2,124 yards and 25 touchdowns against four interceptions. Both Omar Cooper and Elijah Sarratt have been elite weapons for him, while this running back room has several key pieces as well. Penn State will be a good test in Week 11.

Alabama (+700)

Nick Saban may not be around in Tuscaloosa anymore, but Bama is always a team to watch out for. Kalen DeBoer has done a nice job in his second season with the Crimson Tide, leading the program to a 7-1 record, including 5-0 in SEC action. Since a 30-17 loss to Florida State in Week 1, Alabama has won every game. That even includes a victory over bitter rivals Georgia in Week 5. The Tide are in second place in the SEC, and they’re certainly motivated to get back to the College Football Playoff again after being left out in last season’s expanded tournament. Bama is ranked No. 4 in the nation, and they’re fundamentally sound on both sides of the football.

A&M, ND, Oregon Ones to Watch

Texas A&M (+1100) is opening eyes this season. While it’s been a while since this program has been elite, they’re in first place in the SEC with an 8-0 record, even beating Notre Dame in Week 3. Speaking of the Fighting Irish, they’ve started to figure it out since losing their first two contests of the campaign, now sitting at 6-2. ND has experience, competing in the national championship game last season. Oregon is also 7-1, ranking top-10 in the country in numerous categories, both offensive and defensive.

CFP National Championship Picks

No one has come close to matching Ohio State this season. Their balance, depth, and confidence make them the team to beat. Unless another contender peaks at the right time, the Buckeyes remain the safest and smartest pick to repeat as national champions.
