This Formula One season promised to be different than the last few that were dominated by Max Verstappen and Red Bull. And in a way, this 2025 F1 campaign is different: instead of Red Bull and Verstappen, it's McLaren running away with the trophies. They’ve essentially already won both the driver’s and constructor’s championships this year. It’s just a question of which driver.

And yet, each race is a new beginning where every car has a chance to make history in their own way. And the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend is no exception. Let’s take a look at the betting odds we’re getting from Ontario sportsbooks for the 13th race of this season’s 24-race schedule, including a breakdown of the top favorites and a few podium/points finish bets.

Highlights

  • The Belgian GP has been won by Hamilton or Verstappen in 7 of the last 10 years
  • Lewis Hamilton won last year’s Belgian GP, his 5th title at Spa
  • Both McLaren drivers are offering the same betting odds to win the Belgian GP

The Favorites

Lando Norris, McLaren (+162): There is doubt that Lando Norris is the in-form driver in Formula One right now. How can he not be when he comes in off back-to-back wins at his home race of Silverstone as well as the Austrian Grand Prix. In fact, he has won three of the past five races and has finished ahead of his teammate in five of the last six.

While Oscar Piastri seemed to be the golden ticket, Norris is now just eight points behind Piastri in the driver’s championship, so the orange cars are going to be allowed to race each other all things equal. There’s no favorite son here, now that the score is so tight. We think Norris continues his roll, so we like his odds over Piastri, though wait and see if they maybe tip above the Aussie’s closer to race day.

Oscar Piastri, McLaren (+162): Through the first few races of this season, it seemed like Oscar Piastri would cruise away with the driver’s championship aided by his team and his teammate. But not so. Lando Norris has won three of the last five races, and with Piastri’s lead now down to 234-226, team principal Zack Brown can do nothing but let these dogs race it out.

For what it’s worth, last year Piastri finished second at Spa while Norris finished fifth. The year before, Norris was 7th and Piastri retired. It’s a coin flip essentially, but we like the guy who’s more in rhythm right now.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull (+400): This was one of Max Verstappen’s favorite tracks during his three-year reign as the undisputed F1 champion from 2021-2023. However, he placed fourth in Belgium last year, and with team principal Christian Horner recently stepping down and teammate Sergio Perez also being replaced midseason, it’s a bit of a mess over there. It would be too much to ask for Verstappen to do more than reach a podium here.

Podium/Points Finish Bets

  • Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari - Podium Finish (+175): Only Michael Schumacher has won more times at Spa than Lewis Hamilton’s five. And he is the reigning champion. We won’t go so far as to take him to beat a McLaren here, but he has finished fourth in back-to-back races coming in and doesn’t have a podium yet this year. We like him to push for it in Belgium.
  • Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin - Points Finish (-175): Quietly, Fernando Alonso has been making the Aston Martin a relevant car again. After finishing 11th or lower (with three retirements) through the first four races, Alonso has touched points in four straight. He comes in having finished 9th, 7th, 7th, and 9th in his last four races. This is a sneaky good bet with betting apps offering odds just barely juicy enough for us to take a bite.
