2025 AFC Teams To Make Playoffs - Yes/No - Betting Odds
Top Picks
Houston Texans - Yes (-140): This one is really a no-brainer. The Texans are in the worst division in the conference, and they’ve won the division handily enough the last two years. Not to mention that Ontario sportsbooks have the three other teams in the AFC South listed at +185 odds or longer to make the playoffs. That means these Houston odds are beyond a steal… they’re grand larceny.
New England Patriots - No (-170): The Patriots tax is clearly having a major effect on these odds. New England drafted well and added head coach Mike Vrabel, but they were still a four-win team in each of the last two seasons. They are definitely pointed in the right direction, but a playoff appearance in 2025 would be a shocking turnaround. We’re not buying it yet, and -170 odds for a 4-13 team to not make the postseason the next year is about as good as you’re gonna get.
Cincinnati Bengals - Yes (-150): While we think the Bengals had one of the worst offseasons in the league in 2025, they’ve got so much talent at the top end of their roster, it probably won’t matter. We think they’ll be better than the Steelers, and if that’s true, they will get one of those Wild Card spots.
Los Angeles Chargers - Yes (-135): This was a coin flip between the Chargers and Broncos, who could legitimately both make the playoffs this year (like they did last year). But we think the Chargers have the slight edge if only because we trust more in their QB, their ability to run the ball, and their defense as a whole—which was quietly the No. 1 scoring unit in the league last year.
Long Shot Value Bets
- Jacksonville Jaguars - Yes (+185): We were just chirping the AFC South, but the Jags have a lot of exciting talent on offense. It’s just a question of if Trevor Lawrence and Liam Coen, two guys we can’t get a great read on, can tie it all together. If anyone dethrones the Texans in the AFC South, it’s the Jags.
- Las Vegas Raiders - Yes (+320): These are the type of odds the Patriots should have to make the playoffs. If they did, we might have picked them here. But the Raiders might be an even better bet at these +320 odds. Pete Carroll has made the playoffs in 12 of 18 seasons as an NFL head coach, and Geno Smith is the kind of steady presence at QB that should allow Vegas’ exciting playmakers (Bowers, Jeanty) to really shine.
