Despite the fact that they’ve been devalued more than they’ve ever been, NFL running backs are expected to have a wider range of skills now than they ever have. You can’t just run the ball, you have to be able to block and catch the ball as well. The rise of the dual-threat back has led to a lot of scrimmage yards from some of the top backs in the league in recent years.

Betting apps are offering up not one, not two, not three, but four futures betting markets for each of the top running backs in the league when it comes to scrimmage yards. Check out the odds for the 30 best backs in football to reach 1,250, 1,500, 1,750, and 2,000 yards from scrimmage in 2025. We’ve got a few value bets from the board to consider as well!

Highlights

  • At least one RB has crossed the 2,000-yard mark from scrimmage every year since 2018
  • 11 players crossed the 1,500-yard mark from scrimmage in 2024, including 2 WRs
  • Averaging 88 yards a game over 17 games would net a player 1,500 scrimmage yards

James Cook (BUF) - 1,250+ Scrimmage Yards (+105 ): We’re not sure why these odds are so juicy, because James Cook had over 1,500 scrimmage yards in 2023 and over 1,250 last season. Then he signed a contract that made him the seventh-highest paid back in the NFL this offseason. All that money will translate to a lot more than 245 touches next season.

Jahmyr Gibbs (DET) - 1,750+ Scrimmage Yards (+240): In each of his first two NFL seasons, Jahmyr Gibbs has had 52 receptions. And we don’t expect him to backslide in Year 3. Gibbs had over 1,900 scrimmage yards last season, and we expect him to wrestle more of the Lions backfield from David Montgomery this year.

Omarion Hampton (LAC) - 1,500+ Scrimmage Yards (+425): Najee Harris is not an exciting proposition for the Chargers, and with his eye issue, he might not be at 100 percent for a bit. But this Chargers offense under Jim Harbaugh likes to run it a lot. We believe first-round rookie Omarion Hampton will finish with well over 1,200 rushing yards, and he proved himself a more than capable receiving back with 38 receptions at UNC last year.

Bijan Robinson (ATL) - 2,000 Scrimmage Yards (+450): No player has reached 2,000+ scrimmage yards in back-to-back seasons since Tiki Barber did it for three straight from 2004-2006. It’s only been done seven other times, so we counted Barkley and Henry out on this one. The next best thing was Bijan Robinson, who had just under 1,900 last year and expects to see an uptick in touches in 2025.
