James Cook (BUF) - Over 1,000 Yards (+120): Ray Davis lingers behind him, but James Cook is clearly the man. He just signed the second-biggest RB contract in the league by total value, and you don’t do that if you’re doing to reduce a player’s touches. He had 1,009 yards on just 207 rushes last year, and we expect him to get the ball more in 2025.

Omarion Hampton (LAC) - Over 1,000 Yards (+180): Najee Harris was signed to a minuscule one-year deal early in the offseason, then the Chargers drafted Omarion Hampton with a first-round pick shortly thereafter. Who do you think the team prefers? Not to mention Harris is a known (and unexciting) entity, while Hampton is an exciting rookie. Harris is also still returning from an eye injury, so if Hampton can roll early, he can end the backfield committee before it even starts.

Ashton Jeanty (LV) - Over 1,250 Yards (+200): Since 2000, 34 rookie running backs have rushed for 1,000 yards as NFL freshmen. Nine have gone for 1,250+ since 2008, though none have done so since 2018. Which means, with this rushing renaissance in the NFL, we’re due for a big rookie season from a back.  Ashton Jeanty is arguably among the best RB prospects in years, he’s on a team that clearly wants to run the ball, and his only competition seems to be the oft-injured and over-the-hill Raheem Mostert.

Best Long Shots:

  • Jahmyr Gibbs (DET) - Over 1,500 Yards (+600): This guy had over 1,400+ yards last year on insane efficiency, and we just can’t see the Lions reducing his workload in 2025. In fact, we believe the Lions might start shifting the backfield away from an even split with David Montgomery and more to a Gibbs-dominated situation.
  • Jordan Mason (MIN) - Over 1,000 Yards (+600): Aaron Jones is the starter in Minnesota, and he rushed for a career-high 1,138 yards last year, but it was also just the third time in his career that he’s played in every game. We think he will get injured at some point, and that’s when Jordan Mason will claim the backfield and never look back. He’s already a fan favorite.
