The NFL offseason feels like such a drag when you’re in the midst of it. But now, when the light is at the end of the tunnel, it really feels like it has breezed by. Rookies are reporting for training camp around the league in the next week or so. As they start to focus in on next season, so do we.

This is the latest in our series on the early NFL betting odds for the futures markets concerning the 2025 NFL regular season awards. We’ve covered MVP, DPOY, OPOY, COY, and POY already. Now, we move onto the freshmen and the Offensive Rookie of the Year race. Check out the early odds and favorites for next year’s award!

Highlights

  • Only 5 WRs have won OROY since 1999
  • A running back has not won OROY since 2018, but that drought is likely to end
  • The 7 RBs in the top 20 on the odds board are more than any other position

The Favorites

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders (+275): Its been seven years since a running back took home this award, but before that, this was basically a procession for the best freshman RB. From 1964-2007, only 10 non-RBs won the award. The importance placed on the passing game has made it hard for young RBs to make an immediate impact in recent years, but we think the pendulum is swinging back in their favor.

Seven of the 18 players with the shortest odds to win this award are running backs, including the favorite: Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty. Vegas HC Pete Carroll has always been a run-first guy, and the moves they have made this offseason have followed that familiar trend.

However, Carroll has said that he doesn’t want to “rely on one guy”, which should give Jeanty bettors pause with guys like Raheem Mostert, Zamir White, and Sincere McCormick in the mix. We reckon Jeanty will take over full control by season’s end, but that means his +275 odds are not really worth the squeeze here.

Cam Ward, QB, Tennessee Titans (+275): There hasn’t been much said about Cam Ward since he was drafted No. 1 overall, and that’s because there’s not much to say. He seems like a consummate professional that will do well in the NFL. That Titans offense around him could surprise people, but with how bad this team was last year, his odds should be offering a lot more value.

Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Jacksonville Jaguars (+750): Hunter won the Heisman last year because he was a top five player on both sides of the ball. However, this award is only for one side of the ball. And early expectations are that Hunter will play more limited snaps on offense than defense. However, if we had to choose between the top three, we like the value on the +750 odds Ontario sportsbooks are offering for Hunter the most.

Long Shot Value Bets

  • Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers (+1,400): We know Najee Harris is also in town, but Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers were absolutely pumped that Hampton fell to them late in the first round. Besides, Harris only signed a one-year, $5 million deal. Hampton is likely to get more work in the passing game as well.
  • R.J. Harvey, RB, Denver Broncos (+2,200): R.J. Harvey also has a veteran in the mix, but J.K. Dobbins is getting paid under $3 million and his injury history speaks for itself. We think Sean Payton is going to use R.J. Harvey in a lot of ways. This might be our favorite bet on the board. If the Broncos are as good as a team as many believe they will be, that’ll only add to Harvey’s candidacy. Much better value here than with Jeanty as well.
  • Shedeur Sanders, QB, Cleveland Browns (+2,200): Because why not? Shedeur Sanders has looked good early in camp, and while we’d like this number to be at +5,000 considering he’s ostensibly QB4 right now, this would still be a fun dart throw just for how many pompous people would be proven wrong.
