The Favorites
Penei Sewell, Tackle, Detroit Lions (+550): With this being a new award, it’s really up in the air in terms of what kind of metrics will be used to measure these hogs. There aren’t many available, if we’re being frank. One of the only ones is Pro Football Focus’ (PFF) blocking grades. It certainly seems like Ontario sportsbooks are using those grades as a jumping off point with these odds. Just compare last year’s top graded guys and the odds for this award.
Penei Sewell was the No. 1 rated offensive lineman on PFF in 2023 and was No. 5 in 2024. He’s been a First-Team All-Pro the last two years and a Pro Bowler in the last three. It doesn’t get much better than that for a right tackle. He’ll also be blocking for an offense that’s likely to feature two elite RBs and in which he’ll also play a crucial role in protecting for one of the best passing offenses. Sewell is a pretty good look here at +550.
Tristan Wirfs, Tackle, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1,000): Tackles seem to be the flavor for this award, which makes sense. They are paid far more than their interior linemen brethren. Wirfs is one of the most well-respected at his position, and he was No. 1 among all linemen in the all-important PFF pass-blocking grade last year.
Lane Johnson, Tackle, Philadelphia Eagles (+1,100): The Eagles’ offensive line got more shine last year than any such unit since perhaps Washginton’s “Hogs” of the 1980s. Johnson is the resident senior of that group and the most decorated. He was also No. 7 among linemen for PFF’s overall offense grade last year. However, we believe there are better options on Philly’s mountainous offensive line.
Long Shot Value Bets
- Trent Williams, Tackle, San Francisco 49ers (+1,200): The scariest man in the NFL is well-respected and well-credentialed for this award. Considering his body of work coming in, he’s a good candidate to get it simply on legacy.
- Jordan Mailata, Tackle, Philadelphia Eagles (+1,600): This is the guy we would bet on if we wanted to put down on a Philly guy for this award. Based on the odds, it’s clearly going to a tackle, and Mailata is the younger of the Eagles’ two starters, and most likely to get added recognition next year.
- Dion Dawkins, Tackle, Buffalo Bills (+2,800): The Bills are probably going to have a dynamic two-way offense that can run and throw again in 2025, and Dawkins will be the catalyst for that on the offensive line.
