The 2025 college football season is right around the corner, with tons of programs across the nation looking to reach the Promised Land next January. We could see several teams in the CFP from the SEC, one of the most competitive conferences in the country. Heading into the upcoming campaign, Arch Manning’s Texas Longhorns are the favorite in this conference, but we have some interesting squads also in the mix. Read below for the 2025 SEC futures.

Highlights

  • Texas is a favorite to win the SEC this season
  • Georgia and Alabama sit behind them

2025 SEC Futures: Outright Winner

TeamOdds
Texas+275
Georgia+320
Alabama+400
LSU+650
Texas A&M+1500
Ole Miss+1700
South Carolina+1800

The Longhorns lead the pack at online betting sites  with +275 odds. Georgia isn’t far behind at +320, while Bama, who are always a team to watch, sit at +400.

Georgia or Alabama have won the SEC in each of the last five years. The Bulldogs are the reigning champions.

Texas (+275)

Also the favorite in the National Championship futures, Texas is a force to be reckoned with and they will be hungry to go all the way this season. Firstly, however, Steve Sarkisian’s group must focus on being the best team in the always difficult SEC. It’s just their second year in the conference, but there’s serious optimism surrounding the Longhorns. Manning takes over as QB1 after Quinn Ewers left for the NFL, and the young signal-caller showed glimpses of brilliance when he did play last year when Ewers was injured. Texas faces Ohio State in Week 1, but they won’t have to face Alabama, LSU, or Ole Miss in SEC action.

Georgia (+320)

As previously mentioned, Kirby Smart led the Bulldogs to the SEC title last year, but they failed to live up to expectations in the 12-team College Football Playoff, losing in the quarterfinals to Notre Dame. While winning a national title is the No. 1 focus, they need to play well enough in their conference, too. Carson Beck left for Miami, which means Gunner Stockton is Smart’s new QB. While he has limited experience, he’s been around the program for a few years. Smart is a phenomenal coach, and he’s shown that he can bring the best out of his players, both in the SEC and on a national level.

Alabama (+400)

This will be Kalen DeBoer’s second year in charge of the Crimson Tide, and there’s reason to believe this powerhouse could be a dangerous team in ‘25. They will welcome back 15 starters from last year’s team, who narrowly missed out on the CFP. DeBoer will need to groom a new QB however as Jalen Milroe is gone to the NFL. Ty Simpson and Keelon Russell are the options, with Simpson likely to get the starting nod. But, Russell will be ready if he’s called upon. Bama has won the SEC in three of the last five years.

LSU (+650)

The Tigers could be a serious threat in the SEC. Unlike most of the contenders in the conference, they have a seasoned veteran under center. Garrett Nussmeier returns for his senior season after throwing for over 4,000 yards in 2023. Nussmeier is a Heisman Trophy candidate and he has no shortage of weapons at his disposal. Defense is a bit of a question mark for the Tigers, but they should be electric offensively.

2025 SEC Futures Picks

I really like LSU’s value at +650. I also do believe the hype around Texas is real. Put money down on both to make some noise in the SEC. We will have a new winner in this conference for once. It won’t be Georgia or Bama.
