2026 NBA Clutch Player of the Year Early Odds: Anthony Edwards Leads The Pack

The NBA did a bit of a rebrand of their awards season a few years ago. They not only renamed all of the trophies after league legends, they also added a few more trophies to the lot. One of those is the Clutch Player of the Year Award, aka the Jerry West Trophy, which is given to the player judged to have “best come through for his teammates in the clutch”.
In the NBA, “clutch” means the final five minutes for statistical purposes. The award takes those stats into account, but doesn’t limit its purview to them. Apart from Most Improved Player, this award has the most wide open race based on the betting odds, with the favorite here coming in with +900 odds. We’ll break down the early odds and favorites, and also take a look at a few value long shots!
Highlights
- Last year’s winner, Jalen Brunson, is second on the board with +1,000 odds
- The award has won by a PG in each of the first three years
- Kevin Durant could be set up as a late-game sniper with the Rockets

The Favorites
Anthony Edwards, SG, Minnesota Timberwolves (+900): Anthony Edwards would buck the trend of point guards winning this award. He was top five in clutch points, field goal attempts, and field goals made last year. He has raised his game every season he’s been in the league, and if he does so again this season, he’ll be a good shout for nearly every award. We prefer the value we see elsewhere, however.
Jalen Brunson, PG, New York Knicks (+1,000): Last year’s winner of this award, Jalen Brunson cemented himself as the most clutch player in basketball with several big shots late in games during New York’s electric playoff run a couple of months ago. He was also second in the league in clutch assists, at 1.0 per game. Brunson’s got ice in his veins, and we don’t see that changing. He could very well be this award’s first two-time winner.
Luka Doncic, PG, Los Angeles Lakers (+1,200): The Lakers are ostensibly going to be Luka Doncic’s team moving forward. However, despite making some big buzzer beaters early in his career, he hasn’t been among the league-leaders in clutch stats in the last few. Plus, LeBron James is always a candidate to steal some of his late-game shine. We reckon Doncic being listed here is a bit of Lakers tax from betting sites. Steer clear.
Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets (+1,200): Much like Jalen Brunson, Nikola Jokic not only scored a lot in the clutch last year, but dished out 1.1 assists per clutch game, most in the NBA. If you don’t think the league will give it to someone in back-to-back years (like Brunson), the Joker seems like the next-best candidate.
Long Shot Value Bets
- Kevin Durant, SF, Houston Rockets (+1,600): Kevin Durant is turning 37 this year, so we can see the young Rockets attempting to exploit his talents in the most high-leverage moments. He could be a specialty late-game sniper for Houston, saving himself for the fourth quarter in tight games.
- Ja Morant, PG, Memphis Grizzlies (+2,800): This is the type of guy that welcomes the big moments. If the Grizzlies are doing well next year, it will be because of Ja Morant. And when Morant is playing well, he’s making big plays in the clutch. He was eighth in clutch points per game last year.
