49ers vs. Seahawks Game Prediction
Two weeks ago these teams met, and it was pretty clear which was better as the Seahawks won handily 13-3. Now, two weeks on, the 49ers have lost their second-best offensive weapon in TE George Kittle, and yet, we somehow have more belief in them now than we did back then.
San Francisco put on an impressive performance against the squabbling Eagles in the Wild Card round. And while Saquon Barkley was able to find running room early and Jalen Hurts generally had time to throw, Robert Saleh’s no-name defense still stood sturdy when it was most important.
Could this be the team of destiny?
We’re not so sure. We feel that the 49ers might have too high a mountain to climb here to pull off the upset. But we believe they will die on their sword trying to accomplish it. Head coach Kyle Shanahan picked up his first career win when trailing going into the fourth quarter last week, so this is clearly not the same San Francisco team we’ve grown accustomed to. Warts and injuries and all, the 49ers will come to play.
And while Seattle’s defense is beyond reproach, their offense is in no such situation. The running game has been rolling, but it’s been inconsistent overall this season. Sam Darnold, meanwhile, has been dealing with an oblique injury.
And while he says there’s no way he misses the game, OC Klint Kubiak did not comment on Darnold’s situation. Meanwhile, he did confirm that backup Drew Lock has been seeing some more reps this week. Darnold’s reputation in big games is already abysmal. Throw in an injury, and the 49ers definitely have a chance here.
Best Bet: San Francisco 49ers +7.0 Point Spread (-110)

The Seahawks were able to hold Christian McCaffrey to just 57 yards from scrimmage in the regular season finale meeting. But we don’t think Seattle’s defense will be able to repeat that feat. CMC has only been held under 100 scrimmage yards in four of his 18 games this season. And he’s only been held under 110 five times.
McCaffrey has been ultra-reliable, including in a Week 1 win over Seattle where he had 69 rushing yards and 73 receiving yards. With Kittle out, the Seahawks will be keying on McCaffrey, but this will be far from the first time where CMC has had to carry the load.
He knows how to produce when he’s the focal point, and Shanahan knows how to get him in space when the defense has all eyes on the All-Pro. They will be hard-earned yards and his per-touch numbers might not be pretty, but we think the 49ers will ride CMC until the wheels fall off here.
Best Bet: Christian McCaffrey To Record 110+ Scrimmage Yards (-140)
