BetMGM bettors backing Victor Wembanyama and Baker Mayfield to win MVP early

BetMGM revealed some of its public betting numbers for the NBA and NFL on Wednesday over the last few weeks, and BetMGM bettors placed the most bets on San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield to win the NBA and NFL regular season MVP awards. Wembanyama averaged 26.2 points, 13 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 3.6 blocks in his first 11 games of the season while Mayfield threw for 2,192 yards, 16 touchdowns, and two interceptions in his first nine games. BetMGM’s public betting data gives bettors a look at how BetMGM bettors bet on the MVP awards so far this season.

Wembanyama led BetMGM’s MVP betting with the most tickets and the highest handle. Wembanyama had 20.6 per cent of the tickets and 24.6 per cent of the money bet. Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic was second in tickets and handle. Doncic had 13.7 per cent of the tickets and 18.5 per cent of the handle. Doncic averaged 37.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 9.1 assists in his first seven games with the Lakers this season.

NBA MVP betting numbers

The winner of the NBA MVP award last season was Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Gilgeous-Alexander currently has the best odds to win the award on BetMGM with +210 odds. But Gilgeous-Alexander had the sixth most tickets and the third most money on him to win the award. He had 5.2 per cent of the tickets and 12.2 per cent of the handle. Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 32.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in his first 12 games with the Thunder this season.

Doncic currently has the third best odds to win MVP at +450. Wembanyama has the fifth best odds at +800. Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic has the second best odds to win the award at +225. BetMGM’s NBA regular season MVP betting numbers were posted on Wednesday. The NBA season began on October 21. Each team has about 70 games left to play.

NFL MVP betting numbers

Mayfield had the highest tickets, but he didn’t have the highest handle. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the handle with 19.7 per cent and was third in tickets at 6.2 per cent. Mayfield was second in handle with 10.4 per cent. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was second in tickets and third in handle. Burrow has missed games with a toe injury. The last game that he played in this season was the 31-27 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week two.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen won the NFL’s MVP award last season. Allen finished the season with 3,731 passing yards, 35 total touchdowns, and six interceptions. Allen had 4.3 per cent of the tickets and 6.5 per cent of the handle. Allen has the fifth best odds at +700 at the moment. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is currently the betting favourite at +275. New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has the second best odds with +300. Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is tied for the third best odds at +500 with Mahomes. Each team has about seven games remaining on the schedule.
