The kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at Allianz Arena. The Blues are in good form and will be feeling confident against an elite opponent, especially after winning the Club World Cup this past summer. As for the hosts, they’re rolling, securing a massive 5-0 victory over the weekend in Bundesliga action. Below, find the Chelsea vs Bayern Munich picks.

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea Odds

Bayern heads into this matchday one affair as a -150 favorite at soccer betting sites. The Blues, meanwhile, sit as a +340 road underdog. A draw is priced at +340 as well.

The most historic clash between these two was, of course, in the 2012 Champions League final, where the Premier League giants won in penalties. But, they also met in the Round of 16 of the 2019-20 competition, with the Germans running out 7-1 winners on aggregate.

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea Analysis

Bayern are the class of Germany and, during COVID-19, were also the kings of Europe. But, since then, they’ve failed to make a deep run in the UCL. Other than progressing to the semifinals in 2023-24, the Bavarians have bowed out in the quarterfinals every year since lifting the grand prize in 2020. Last term, Vincent Kompany’s men lost to finalists Inter Milan, who fell in the showpiece to PSG.

Domestically, Bayern has been flawless so far, winning all three of its games. Kompany’s side opened the campaign with a dominant 6-0 victory over RB Leipzig before also beating Augsburg and Hamburger. The reigning Bundesliga champs have bagged 14 goals already while conceding just twice. Harry Kane is off to a torrid start, already netting five times. The Englishman scored 11 goals in the Champions League in 2024-25.

Chelsea announced themselves to the world this summer in the States as they captured the Club World Cup title. While many claimed they had an easy road to the final, Enzo Maresca’s group ran riot on a dominant PSG side in the finale. The Blues have played relatively well in England through the first month, winning two and drawing two. Chelsea looked on their way to three points over Brentford last weekend, but they conceded late, ultimately walking away with a point.

Despite the setback, the Blues still sit in fifth place in the Premier League table. The last time Chelsea competed in the Champions League in 2022-23, they bowed out in the quarterfinals at the hands of Real Madrid. This young squad will be hungry to play on Europe’s grand stage, and they’ve been handed a very difficult fixture to begin their UCL campaign.

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea Injury News

Former Chelsea academy player Jamal Musiala remains out after his horrendous leg injury at the Club World Cup. Alphonso Davies continues to recover from his knee injury, while Raphael Guerreiro is dealing with a rib injury, leaving Kompany thin at left-back. Defender Hiroki Ito is also injured. Chelsea will be without Liam Delap, Levi Colwill, and Romeo Lavia, among others. Cole Palmer looks set to return to the starting XI after his impactful goal off the bench against Brentford.

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea Picks

Chelsea is more than capable of competing with the best, but Bayern’s frontline is firing on all cylinders and may have the most in-form attack in the world at the moment. I do believe the Blues will be competitive on Wednesday, but Munich will come out on top.
