Despite the heavy deficit they need to overcome, Juve heads into this second leg as a -200 moneyline favorite at soccer betting sportsbooks. Galatasaray returns as a +480 underdog.
The Italian side has struggled against Galatasaray in this competition, winning just once in seven meetings. That lone victory came way back in 2003.
Juventus vs Galatasaray Analysis
Juve is in horrible form at the moment, losing four of their last five games. They’ve only won once across their previous seven appearances across all competitions, and during that span, Atalanta knocked them out of the Coppa Italia. The Scudetto is very much out of reach as The Old Lady is in fifth place, and 18 points out of top spot. Luciano Spalletti’s men are now on the verge of bowing out of the Champions League as well.
Saturday was another defeat in Italy, this time at the hands of Cesc Fabregas’s Como, who beat them 2-0. After initially taking a 2-1 lead in Istanbul last Tuesday thanks to a 16-minute brace from Teun Koopmeiners, Juve proceeded to absolutely collapse, conceding four unanswered goals to Galatasaray. They face a serious uphill battle here, and their recent play isn’t exactly a reason for optimism.
Galatasaray is on the verge of making the Round of 16 for the first time since the 2013-14 season, and barring an absolute collapse, they should progress. The Turkish standouts are at the top of the Super Lig standings with a 17-4-2 record, sitting two points above Fenerbahce. Okan Buruk’s side were just upset over the weekend, though, losing to 13th-place Konyaspor by two goals.
However, that was their first defeat in four games since Manchester City beat them on matchday eight of the Champions League group stages. Galatasaray gave their passionate fanbase a beautiful show last weekend, with Noa Lang leading the way with a brace. The Turkish giants completely outplayed Juve, but despite the lead on aggregate, they will need to bring their best once again on Wednesday in Turin.
Juventus vs Galatasaray Injury News
Juventus could receive a timely boost with Bremer in contention to return after missing the loss to Como due to a thigh issue. Pierre Kalulu is back from suspension, but Juve remain stretched defensively, with Emil Holm sidelined through injury and both Juan Cabal and Andrea Cambiaso suspended. In attack, Jonathan David is still building fitness after a recent setback and may not be ready to start alongside Kenan Yildiz. Long-term absentees Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik remain out, limiting options up front.
Galatasaray are expected to rotate in attack, with Mauro Icardi likely to drop out of the starting lineup after featuring in Konya. Victor Osimhen is poised to lead the line as he closes in on the club’s single-season Champions League scoring record. In midfield, Mario Lemina returns from suspension and could slot straight back in against his former side
Juventus vs Galatasaray Picks
It’s only a matter of time until Juve gets back on track. While I don’t think they will overcome a 5-2 deficit, the hosts will at least win the second leg. But, as they usually do, The Old Lady will concede.
