In the Champions League, the Norwegian has also been in wonderful form. He’s netted four times in just three appearances, helping City grab wins against Villarreal and Napoli. Guardiola’s group also played to a 2-2 draw with Monaco on matchday two. As things stand, City is in seventh in the UCL table, scoring six times and conceding just twice. A victory over Dortmund could see the Sky Blues move above their German opponents.
Dortmund is well in contention for another Champions League spot next season as they sit in third place in the Bundesliga. The Black and Yellows are seven points out of first, and just two points behind RB Leipzig, who are in second. Niko Kovac’s side is enjoying a four-game winning run across all competitions, which started off with a 4-2 victory over Copenhagen in UCL matchday three. Felix Nmecha led Dortmund to the three points with a double, and despite scoring just once in Germany, Nmecha has three goals in Europe.
On Friday, it was the always dangerous Serhou Guirassy who scored Dortmund’s lone goal in a win over FC Augsburg. BVB is sixth in the Champions League standings, compiling a 2-1-0 record. Their toughest task was on matchday one as they played to a thrilling 4-4 stalemate with Juventus before wins over Athletic Club and Copenhagen. Dortmund has scored the second-most goals in the competition heading into matchday four.

Guardiola will be pleased to know that he has no serious injury concerns on Wednesday. Mateo Kovacic is his only notable absentee as the Croatian is battling an ankle issue. The same cannot be said for Dortmund, which will be without captain Julian Brandt. Niklas Sule continues to rehab an injury as well. Julien Duranville has returned to training, but he’s not quite match fit yet.
