Clemson vs Georgia Tech Odds
Clemson is a -155 favorite at online betting sites. Georgia Tech returns as a +125 home underdog. The total is set relatively high, sitting at 52.5.
While the Yellow Jackets lead this all-time series, it’s been all Clemson in recent memory. The Tigers have won nine straight dating back to 2015.
Clemson vs Georgia Tech Analysis
Clemson is seen as a potential College Football Playoff team, but their aspirations took a hit in Week 1 with a defeat to Garrett Nussmeier and the LSU Tigers, falling 17-10. Defense ruled this contest, but Cade Klubnik did show promise as he enters a crucial year under center for Dabo Swinney’s group. Klubnik was efficient last weekend against Troy though, producing 27 points and finishing the game 18-for-24 with two touchdowns and 196 passing yards. Adam Randall also had a big game in the backfield with 112 rushing yards, while Bryant Wesco Jr reeled in seven receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
The Tigers have been without Antonio Williams, their best WR who got injured in the LSU game. Swinney said he’s still day-to-day, and it’s trending towards him missing another contest here. Although his absence has hurt Clemson, they’ve simply lacked consistency offensively. They didn’t come alive until the second half against Troy and didn’t show much versus LSU. If there was a time for Georgia Tech to actually beat Clemson for the first time in a decade, it could be Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets are a potentially dark horse for the CFP and they’ve looked solid thus far. Quarterback Haynes King is a serious dual-threat and played well against Colorado before missing the Gardner-Webb matchup. King is battling a lower body injury at the moment, and remains questionable for Saturday’s rivalry game. Georgia Tech’s chances of beating Clemson hinge on his health. King needs to play to get past the Tigers.
If he is on the field, Georgia Tech is in a prime position to make this one close, at the very least. Remember, King helped the Yellow Jackets complete a wild upset against the Georgia Bulldogs last season. The signal-caller can do a little bit of everything, and that should cause problems for the Clemson defense. Also keep an eye on running back duo Malachi Hosley and Jamal Haynes, who wreaked havoc against Gardner-Webb a week ago.
Clemson vs Georgia Tech Picks
This should be a very interesting game. Again, Clemson has lacked fire on the offensive side of the ball under Klubnik. But, even though I do believe Saturday’s encounter will go down to the wire, I’ll still take the Tigers to pull out a testy win.
