Oklahoma vs Alabama Odds

Bama heads into this SEC clash as a -225 monetyline favorite. They’re also lying six points on the spread at online betting sites. Oklahoma returns at +185 odds.

The Sooners just joined the SEC last season and managed to upset Alabama in their first meeting in six years, beating them 24-3.

Oklahoma vs Alabama Analysis

A loss to Ole Miss a few weeks back was a real gut punch for the Sooners, but they still have a realistic shot at making the College Football Playoff. The only way that happens? By winning all of their remaining games, and that means taking down Alabama for the second consecutive season, and in the process, potentially ending the Tide’s epic winning streak. Oklahoma certainly comes in fresh, last playing two weeks ago when they beat Tennessee 33-27.

QB John Mateer completed 19 of 29 passes for just 159 yards but luckily, the Sooners’ RB room rushed for 192 yards. Xavier Robinson had 115 yards on his own, averaging 7.2 yards per carry. OU’s offense hasn’t been a strength this season, but their defense certainly is. The Sooners are eighth in the country in fewest points allowed at 14.1, and seventh in fewest total yards allowed. They will need to bring their absolute best against Alabama. A loss here ends Oklahoma’s CFP dreams.

Bama was shocked in Week 1 of the CFB season by Florida State, but that was evidently a wake-up call for Kalen DeBoer’s group. Since then, they’ve won every single contest, and during that span, the Crimson Tide have defeated the likes of Georgia, Missouri, LSU, and Vanderbilt, among others. Alabama is second in the SEC behind Texas A&M and they’ve yet to lose in conference action, going 5-0. They’re also a perfect 5-0 at Bryant-Denny.

Signal-caller Ty Simpson wasn’t great in Week 11, but he did just enough to get Bama over the line in a 20-9 win. He’s completed 66.9% of his passes this season for 2,461 yards and 21 touchdowns against just one interception. Simpson’s brilliance has the Tide ranked 15th in the nation in passing yards, averaging 279.6 per game. Defensively, Bama is also a top-20 team across the board.

Oklahoma vs Alabama Picks

Oklahoma’s defense is very solid, but so is Bama’s, and Mateer doesn’t pose much of a threat. I think we’ll see a close one in Tuscaloosa, but a couple of big plays in the second half will prove to be the difference-maker for the Crimson Tide. They’ll cover.
