There is a seemingly endless list of futures betting markets for NFL fans to wager on before the season gets underway in the second week of September. Many of these focus on the questions of who will lead the league in each statistical category, such as rushing, receiving, or passing.

But you can bet even on defensive stat leaders too. One of the most unheralded stats in football is the tackle. Stat keepers keep track of both solo tackles and assisted tackles, which, when put together, create the combined tackles stat. We take a look at the latest NFL betting odds for the NFL regular season combined tackles leader futures betting market and share our favourite picks on the board!

Highlights

  • Miami linebacker Jordyn Brooks led the league with 183 combined tackles last year
  • Leading the league in combined tackles doesn’t always guarantee an All-Pro or Pro Bowl nod
  • Only one player has led in combined tackles back-to-back since Jessie Tuggle from 1990-92

The Favourites

Atop the odds board here are three of the top four tacklers from a year ago: Miami’s Jordyn Brooks (+600), Tennessee’s Cedric Gray (+750), and Detroit’s Jack Campbell (+750). All deserve to be near the top again, as each is set to wear the green dot and remain a crucial and central cog of their respective defences throughout the season. None of these guys is getting benched.

However, with a statistical category as volatile as combined tackles, we’re looking for big value on whoever we choose, and these guys all sit with odds shorter than +800, which doesn’t feel like enough value to us.

Foyesade Oluokun led the league in tackles in back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022 and wasn’t even named to a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team in either year, which shows that really anyone can win the combined tackles crown. So why not get a little more juice, right?

Our Best Bet: Carson Schwesinger, Cleveland Browns (+800)

We really would prefer to go with someone offering +1,000 odds or longer, but Carson Schwesinger feels like a really savvy bet here. The Browns traded away their defensive talisman in Myles Garrett, and we believe Schwesinger is going to step into that role as the unquestioned defensive leader in the Dawg Pound.

The 2025 Defensive Rookie of the Year racked up 156 takedowns last year, which was good for sixth in the NFL. He was right in the mix with the top guys. Schwesinger will have added responsibility within the Browns defensive group. Pair that with the increase in understanding and know-how he’ll get in his second year on the job, and that combination makes him our favourite pick here.

Long Shot Dark Horse Candidate: Foyesade Oluokun, Jacksonville Jaguars (+2,500)

Hey, he did it twice before for two different teams in two consecutive seasons. Why can’t Foyesade Oluokun do it again for the Jags in 2026? In his last four full seasons, he has racked up 192 tackles (1st in the NFL), 184 (1st), 173 (4th), and 143 last year (T-10th).

He’s a do-it-all guy that is still only 30 and seems to have retained his physical gifts at least for one more year. Let’s take a dart throw on him to become just the sixth player to lead the league in combined tackles three times in his career.
