Las Vegas Raiders vs Los Angeles Rams: NFL Predictions, Odds & Picks | Week 7

Kirk Cousins and the Raiders have dropped three straight since a 3-0 start, and now they draw a Rams’ team that has a lot of question marks after a bad start. Los Angeles arrives at 2-4, but Matthew Stafford's passing offence still ranks second in passing yards per game. This non-conference affair is key for both teams, who need a W to stay in their division races.

Los Angeles Rams -4.5: -108

I'm backing the Rams to cover the 4.5-point spread. Los Angeles's defence ranks second against the pass, against a Raiders offence that has relied on the pass with little success on the ground.Las Vegas ranks 28th in yards allowed and 30th in rushing offence, so Cousins' 8th-ranked passing attack will have to carry more than usual on the road. That will not happen with Stafford guiding L.A, to the win, where they will cover. 

Kyren Williams Anytime Touchdown: -190

Williams has scored a touchdown in four of Los Angeles's six games this season and remains the clear red-zone option even as Blake Corum cuts into his early-down touches. Las Vegas ranks 28th in the league in rushing yards allowed (134.3 per game), which is why I still like Williams to find paydirt despite the shared backfield.

The Las Vegas side

Cousins has started every game for the Raiders this season and threw for 313 yards with two touchdowns in last week's 33-30 loss to Buffalo. However, the supporting cast is thin: Las Vegas ranks 30th in rushing offence. The Raiders have allowed 30 or more points in three of their last four games, and that mix of a stalled run game and a leaky defence is why I don't trust the home side to keep this within 4.5 points. 

The Los Angeles side

Stafford went 25 of 33 for 222 yards and two touchdowns without an interception in last week's 18-16 loss to Arizona, even though his streak of four straight 300-yard games ended. Los Angeles's passing attack ranks second in the league, and Williams and Corum share a backfield that ranks in the middle of the pack in terms of rushing yards per game. Stafford and company need to get back on track and will in this game face a Raiders’ D that has issues.

The de-vigged market has the Rams at 65% to win outright against 35% for the Raiders. My own number sits a few points higher for Los Angeles, at 68%-32%, because of the Rams ability to run the ball, which the Raiders have not had.That's the real NFL prediction odds angle the public may be missing this week, which is why I'm leaning on the spread for the Lions  rather than just the moneyline.

I'm calling a 27-20 Rams win that covers the 4.5-point spread comfortably. Stafford should move the ball against a Raiders defence allowing 371.7 yards a game, while Los Angeles's own defence keeps Cousins from turning this into a high-scoring one. The 47-point combined total lands just under the posted 48.5 line, which is why my call is the Rams -4.5 with the Under 48.5 being the picks.
