Dodgers vs Braves Game 3 Analysis
Los Angeles certainly won’t have it easy as they eye a three-peat in the postseason, and the Braves have been a tough matchup so far. The Dodgers won Game 1, 5-3, but were held to just two runs in a 3-2 loss on Sunday evening in a bullpen game for the hosts. Blake Snell pitched well, allowing just one earned run, but Dave Roberts turned to his pen early, yanking the left-hander after just 3.2 innings. Atlanta’s relievers kept LA’s lineup off balance, and the hosts smacked just six hits. Both their runs came from homers.
Now, the Dodgers turn to Yamamoto, who was easily their best and healthiest starter all year long. The right-hander posted a 14-9 record and 2.53 ERA in 2026, and he enters his first playoff outing in good form. Yamamoto compiled a 2.33 xERA over his final four regular-season appearances. He’s also pitched well against this Braves lineup in the past, holding them to a .196 average across 51 at-bats.
Atlanta did something they’ve never done before in the Wild Card Round – beat the rival Philadelphia Phillies in a playoff series. The Braves advanced after winning the best-of-3 matchup 2-1, and they’ve looked competitive so far in the NLDS against the defending champions. After the bullpen allowed most of the damage in Game 1, they responded with a dominant display in Game 2.
Left-hander Ray Kerr tossed 2.2 scoreless innings to open the contest before Grant Holmes, Dylan Lee, and Robert Suarez, among others, kept the Dodgers’ powerful bats at bay. Now, they will have Sale on the mound, their clear-cut ace. The southpaw threw a five-hit shutout against Los Angeles on August 27, and Sale finished the ‘26 campaign with a sharp 1.13 ERA versus the Dodgers across two starts.
Dodgers vs Braves Game 3 Picks
LA has a difficult assignment on Tuesday against Sale, who is even better when he’s pitching in Georgia. The left-hander has a 1.66 ERA at home this season, and he’s already shown he can carve up this lineup. I’ll take the Braves in Game 3.
