The week before Premier League matchday one every single year sees the FA Cup holders and EPL winners lock horns, with the Community Shield trophy as stake. This season, it will be Crystal Palace taking on Liverpool on Sunday, August 10, at Wembley Stadium. The kick-off is scheduled for 10 AM EDT. Palace beat Manchester City in the FA Cup showpiece earlier this year to lift the grand prize, a trophy that absolutely no one could’ve predicted they’d win. As for the Reds, they ran away with the league title, finishing 10 points clear at the top of the table. Read below for the Crystal Palace vs Liverpool betting picks.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Odds

By no surprise, Liverpool is a heavy -165 favorite at soccer betting sites.  Palace returns as a +425 underdog.

The Reds have lost just once in their last 17 meetings with the Eagles. Last term, however, they drew 1-1 and Liverpool also beat Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Analysis

Palace rarely finishes in the top half of the Premier League table these days and has even had to steer clear of relegation at times. In 2024-25, the Eagles ended up in 12th place at the end of the campaign with a 13-14-11 record. They bagged just 51 goals in 38 games while also conceding that same number. But, Oliver Glasner’s side heroically brought a trophy back to Selhurst Park, giving their die-hard supporters something to cheer about.

Thanks to Eberechi Eze, one of the brightest stars in the squad and in England for that matter, Palace managed to take down the mighty Man City, running out 1-0 winners in May at the same venue as Sunday – Wembley. It truly was a miracle considering Palace only enjoyed 21% of the possession and were frankly outplayed. The Community Shield isn’t a major trophy by any means, but winning this would be a feather in Palace’s cap ahead of what will hopefully be an impressive campaign.

Liverpool head into the upcoming Premier League campaign as the favorite to lift another trophy, and for good reason. The title-holders managed to strengthen their squad even more in the summer transfer window, signing Bundesliga trio Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Hugo Ekitike. Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have left the club, but the Merseysiders have done good business to replace them. Sadly, Diogo Jota passed away in a tragic car accident.

Arne Slot’s side last played in the Community Shield in 2019, beating Man City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium. Liverpool have played six preseason matches so far, losing just once and that was against AC Milan. They’ve grabbed victory against the liked of Preston North End, Stoke City, Athletic Club, and Yokahama.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Picks

Liverpool’s squad is relatively healthy and the big guns should be in action. I don’t see the Reds having any issues grabbing a convincing win against Palace here. Lock in the moneyline with the utmost confidence.
