Dortmund vs Monterrey Odds

Dortmund is a -155 favorite for this Round of 16 affair, while Mexican outfit Monterrey returns as a +400 underdog at soccer betting sites.

Dortmund vs Monterrey Analysis

Dortmund have looked solid so far in the Club World Cup and also finished the Bundesliga campaign on a high note, winning their final five games. Niko Kovac’s men have a pair of wins and a draw so far in this new-look event, grabbing a point against Fluminense before beating Mamelodi Sundowns and Ulsan. To be honest though, none of their victories have been too convincing, needing four goals to take down Mamelodi, while besting Ulsan by just one goal.

Jobe Bellingham has shown well since arriving from Sunderland, though. The brother of Real Madrid star Jude has bagged a goal and tallied an assist already as he hopes to follow in his brother’s footsteps and build a legacy at Signal Iduna. Dortmund are riding a 10-match unbeaten run heading into Tuesday’s clash against a tough Monterrey side. While BVB haven’t secured a convincing victory quite yet, they will be feeling confident for this Round of 16 affair. After all, Dortmund is no stranger to big games, having played in the UCL final a year ago.

Monterrey is a Mexican giant for a reason and even before the Club World Cup expanded, they were a regular in the tournament. As previously mentioned, Monterrey showed their quality on matchday one, securing a draw with Inter, who just lost in the Champions League showpiece last month to PSG. The headliner for this club is of course Sergio Ramos, the former Real Madrid star who is getting paid an absurd amount of money to play for the Liga MX side. Ramos produced the goods against Inter, bagging their lone goal.

Monterrey followed that up with a scoreless stalemate against River Plate before hammering the Urawa Reds 4-0. German Berterame netted a brace in the victory, while Nelson Deossa and Jesus Manuel Corona also scored. It was an impressive performance from the attack, but Monterrey will be up a much more difficult backline on Tuesday. A moment of brilliance could be used from their most experienced player in Ramos, who is no stranger to the big stage.

Dortmund vs Monterrey Picks

BVB has yet to impress me in this tournament, but they simply have more quality. That being said, I expect it to be a close match. Dortmund will win and it’ll be low-scoring a well. Take the Germans on the moneyline and hammer the Under.
