PSG vs Chelsea Odds

By no surprise, PSG is a heavy -165 favorite for the showpiece. Chelsea returns as a +400 underdog at soccer betting sites.  A full-time draw is priced at +320 odds.

It’s been quite awhile since these two clubs locked horns. Their last meeting was in the 2015-16 Champions League campaign, where PSG ran out 4-2 winners on aggregate in the Round of 16. In eight all-time meetings, Paris has three victories, while Chelsea has two. The other three matches ended level.

PSG vs Chelsea  Analysis

It’s becoming very clear that PSG is the best side in the world right now. After a phenomenal campaign that saw them win Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Champions League for the first time in club history, Luis Enrique’s men have carried their top form into this new-look Club World Cup. Outside of a shock 1-0 defeat to Botafogo on matchday two, the Parisiens have manhandled every single opponent. They’ve dominated several European giants, including Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and most recently, Real Madrid.

PSG’s vibrant attack overwhelmed Los Blancos early on in the semifinals, and this fixture was essentially over before it even began. Fabian Ruiz’s second goal of the game came in the 24th minute, putting his side up 3-0 after Ousmane Dembele also beat Thibaut Courtois. The French standouts played a phenomenal 90 minutes, with Portuguese international Goncalo Ramos adding an insurance goal late in the second half. PSG head into the showpiece with every bit of momentum.

With so many top sides in the Club World Cup, I don’t think anyone was going to predict that Chelsea would be in the final. Don’t get me wrong, the Blues are a very solid club, but they’re not at the top of Europe quite yet. That being said, their road to the grand finale hasn’t been all that difficult compared to PSG. Chelsea had to beat Benfica in the Round of 16 and then back-to-back Brazilian sides in the last eight and last four. But that doesn’t mean the EPL giants won’t be going for it all on Sunday.

Enzo Maresca decided to give João Pedro the start against his boyhood club Fluminense, and boy, what a decision it was. The former Brighton man scored two absolute stunners and was classy enough not to celebrate either since they came against the same team that gave him the opportunity to begin his footballing career. It would be a surprise if Pedro didn’t get the starting nod again on Sunday, but even if he doesn’t, he should be on the pitch at some point. Chelsea’s backline will have their work cut out for them here, with PSG’s attack possessing so much quality and pace. They will be pressing non-stop.

PSG vs Chelsea Picks

If I’m being brutally honest, Chelsea faces an uphill battle to beat a team as fundamentally sound and organized as PSG. While I do think the Blues will put up a respectable fight in New Jersey, the Champions League winners will add another piece of hardware to their trophy case. Take the Paris moneyline.
