Victor Wembanyama has great rebounding numbers in terms of totals and per game averages. But man, has he been unreliable on the glass. If you’ve been betting on his rebounding prop on a game-by-game basis, you’re probably pulling your hair out.
In the last two series, Wemby has had six games with 15+ rebounds and six games with eight or fewer boards. Luckily for us, his game-by-game numbers don’t matter here. We’re looking at stats throughout the length of a series, and Wemby has led each of San Antonio’s last two series by 20+ rebounds. In round one, he nearly led in boards despite sitting out a game with a concussion.
The Knicks have some guys that could challenge Wemby. Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson can vacuum in boards at times. But they take away from one another. And they were both bested by Josh Hart in the rebounding category in their sweep of the 76ers a couple of rounds ago. At -150, the value could be better on Wemby, but he’s definitely the right choice.
We bet on Julian Champagnie to lead the last series in three-pointers, and he actually ended up coming really close thanks to a 6-for-10 night in Game 7. He led San Antonio’s first two series in triples and at 2.6, he is averaging more long range bombs than any other player in this series.
The Knicks take a much more varied approach from the three-point line, whereas the Spurs get a lot of their production from Champagnie and Devin Vassell. We’re going with the better value and better stats and better form with Champagnie.
Steals are one of the toughest stats to predict, but Josh Hart has been a reliable thief during these playoffs. He’s managed 2+ swipes in eight of his 14 playoff appearances, including eight steals in his last three games. San Antonio’s Stephon Castle has been coughing it up a lot, and Hart seems likeliest to take advantage. Hart’s +300 odds don’t hurt either.
Best Bet:
- Victor Wembanyama Most Rebounds (-150)
- Julian Champagnie Most Three-Pointers (+265)
- Josh Hart Most Steals (+300)
