Despite losing the opening tie, soccer betting sportsbooks have Liverpool as a heavy -323 home favorite on Wednesday. Galatasaray returns as a +740 underdog, while a draw is priced at +540.
The Turkish side already won at Anfield in the UCL group stages in September, securing a 1-0 victory.
Liverpool vs Galatasaray Analysis
It’s been an underwhelming campaign for the reigning Premier League winners, who are fighting tooth and nail to even finish in the top four in England. They’ve also struggled at times in Europe, and last Tuesday’s defeat in Istanbul puts them in a tough hole heading into Wednesday’s clash. The Reds certainly had their fair share of chances, but they couldn’t hit the back of the net, registering six shots on target.
Arne Slot’s men then faltered over the weekend against relegation-threatened Tottenham. After Dominik Szoboszlai put his side ahead in the first half with a beautiful free kick, Liverpool proceeded to concede in the 90th minute, with Richarlison scoring for the visitors. That’s now two games without a victory, and the Reds are now staring down a Round of 16 exit if they cannot bring their best against Galatasaray.
The Turkish giants are thriving this term. They’re seven points clear at the top of the Super Lig, and they beat another giant in the play-offs, taking down Juventus across two thrilling legs. Galatasaray continued their impressive home form last week against the Reds, with Mario Lemina scoring an early winner for the hosts.
As previously mentioned, this club is no stranger to marching into Anfield and finding a result. Victor Osimhen scored from the spot in September’s victory on Merseyside, and the Nigerian also played a massive part in the lone goal in the first leg. Despite sitting as such a huge underdog here, there is no question that Galatasaray will be confident for this affair. They’ve won four games across all competitions.
Liverpool vs Galatasaray Injury News
Liverpool remain without club-record signing Alexander Isak (leg), while Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley (both knee) and Wataru Endo (ankle) also continue to recover from long-term injuries.
Galatasaray will be without Enes Buyuk due to a shoulder injury, while Metehan Baltaci, Gokdeniz Gurpuz, and Renato Nhaga are all ineligible after being omitted from the club’s Champions League squad. Davinson Sanchez is also unavailable through suspension, which could see Abdulkerim Bardakci and Ismail Jakobs return to the defence.
Liverpool vs Galatasaray Picks
The Reds are such an unpredictable side this term. Although the Anfield atmosphere undoubtedly plays in their favor, Galatasaray is in good form, and they’ve had Liverpool’s number in 2025-26. I’ll take the underdogs to snatch a second-leg victory.
