The Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to take a 2-0 lead back to Southern California when they take on the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of the NLDS on Monday, October 6. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:08 p.m. ET at Citizens Bank Park. LA took the series opener on Saturday evening on the road, overcoming a 3-0 deficit to score five unanswered runs behind a three-run home run from the red-hot Teoscar Hernandez. The Dodgers are a -130 moneyline favorite in Game 2 of the NLDS. The Phils return at +110 odds at MLB sportsbooks. The total is set at 7.5 runs, with the Over cashing in the series opener as LA won 5-3.

Dodgers vs Phillies Game 2 Analysis

Los Angeles failed to secure the top seed in the National League, which meant they needed to get past the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Wild Card. That proved to be no issue, as the defending World Series champions took down Terry Francona’s squad in two straight games, setting up a date with the Phillies. Game 1 didn’t start off great, with Shohei Ohtani giving up three early runs at Citizens Bank Park. But, their offense found their stroke in the sixth inning when Kike Hernandez cracked a two-run double. Teoscar then followed that up with a round-tripper in the seventh to put the Dodgers ahead for good.

Snell makes his second start of the postseason on Monday after an impressive campaign that saw him go 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA. While the lefty made just 11 starts due to injury, he was dominant when available, and Los Angeles will need that same version of Snell in Game 2. He was solid against the Reds in the Wild Card, allowing just two earned runs across seven innings of work. He’s also had tons of success against the Phils lineup in the past, holding them to a .168 average across 137 at-bats.

Philadelphia’s layoff didn’t seem to affect them early in Game 1 as they quickly got to Ohtani for three runs. But, after that, the offense struggled. In fact, the Phillies had just five hits overall in th series opener, which is simply not going to be good enough. They also stranded 13 runners. Losing another game at home on Monday would be bad news heading back to Los Angeles, but it will be far from easy against Snell, who is still one of the best arms around. 

Rob Thomson will put his trust in Luzardo for Game 2. The former Miami Marlin had a productive first year in a Phillies uniform, going 15-7 with a 3.92 ERA in 32 outings. Luzardo racked up 216 strikeouts in 183.2 innings of work while walking just 57. Luzardo’s final start of the regular season was impressive, tossing seven scoreless against the Fish – his ex-team. He pitched extremely well against the Dodgers in 2025, posting a 2.57 ERA in two appearances.

The Phillies are a team that typically plays well at home, and they know what’s at stake going on the road in a 0-2 hole. I’ll take them to win Game 2. They may not score a lot off Snell, but doing some damage against the Dodgers’ bullpen is very possible.
